A Ride to Bandar Rimbayu for a Big Fun Day

Where is Bandar Rimbayu?
It is located a few kilometre south of Kota Kemuning, a green township development by IJM Land with a setting of nature dwelling on a land of 1,879 acres. It is a mixed development of residential, commercial, recreational and parkland.
Eight of us decided to gather at McDonald's Kota Kemuning and cycle to Bandar Rimbayu going through the nearby kampung though it was a longer way to take but we simply wanted to enjoy the fabulous surrounding.
Bandar Rimbayu is connected to major townships through the nearby highways like the Lebuhraya Shah Alam (KESAS), Lebuhraya Kemuning – ShahAlam(LKSA), Expressway Lingkaran Tengah(ELITE) and the South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE).
IJM Land has won awards both locally and internationally with accolades such as the MSWG-Asean Corporate Governance Industry Excellence (Property) Award, FIABCI Malaysia Property Awards, BCI Asia Top 10 Developer Awards (Malaysia), International Property Awards (Asia Pacific) and Putra Brand Awards. Thank you for inviting us to this Big Fun Day event.
Friends and family members of bloggers having a great time on a beautiful Sunday.
A gross development value of RM11 billion project comprising of four precincts Flora, Fauna, Bayu and the Commercial Hub.
Go check this interesting place out especially if you are looking for a nice property in a well planned township.

Gong Xi Fa Cai - Ushering the Year of the Monkey and Wishing Everyone a Good 2016

Going back to Penang is always about eating and eating, worst of all if it is during the Chinese New Year celebration we eat non stop. Penang is well known for its good food we just could not resist our selves from food hunting. I must confess we are truly "Thum Jiak".
One of the many favourite Penang Street food that we can not miss is the Penang Hokkien Mee or Prawn Noodle as known to non Penangites. Happy eating and happy hunting.
All eat but no workout is not right, I took the boys & Jo for another short ride at the neighbourhood of Teluk Bahang. We visited the town, nearby fishing village, parks and the popular Teluk Bahang Dam. I hope they enjoy it.

Qeow Yee Hokkien Mee @ Semarak Api, Farlim, Air Itam

We came visited this place just before the Chinese New Year break and we were back again on the second day of the New Year as my boys and Jo really love their Hokkien Mee (prawn noodle). Farlim has been a place popular for Hokkien Mee.
This place is apparently a branch of the wooden house at Paya Terubong as blogged in my previous post here.
This is our all time favourite noodle whenever we are back to Penang and we found that this place do serve delicious and quality Hokkien Mee. We will sure come back again.
Pork Knuckle Noodle (Tu Kar Mee), it is claimed by the lady that this is the only place you can find such noodle in Penang. It is kind of Penang Loh Mee but spicy.
Chicken Noodle another special noodle created which is also a version of a spicy Loh Mee.
The menu found in front of the semi detached house, by the way do try their dessert it is delicious too.

First Family Ride at Penang Bicycle Lane

It was time to travel back to Penang to celebrate a new Chinese Year, Year of Monkey. I took the chance to bring my folding bicycles back for the whole family to use during the holidays.
We parked our cars at Chulia Street, set up our bicycles and started visiting some of the street murals as we pedalled towards south for Queensbay Mall.
I was very happy to see for the first time that the whole family was able to cycle together.
Besides the bonding we were enjoying the beautiful scenery along the bicycle lane.
My boys were suffering from butt aches as they have not been cycling regularly, I was glad they have completed the ride of at least 25km for the day. I wish they will continue to pedal more often as a good workout for them.

Dragon Phoenix Seafood @ Genting Cafe, Farlim, Penang.

It was time to go back to Penang with my family on a Chinese New Year break together with my mum & sister we visited Dragon Phoenix Seafood at Kedai Makanan Dan Minuman Genting, Farlim. This was my second visit to this eatery and I quite like the food here.
Curry grouper fish was very appetising, the fish was fresh and I enjoyed it very much and finished my plain rice in a pretty fast manner mostly on this dish itself.
Fried Kangkong (water spinach) Belacan was tasty with a good crunchiness from it.
Normally we would order our favourite belacan fried chicken but this time around we opted for another version of fried chicken marinated with fermented bean curd and it tasted as equally awesome.
Clay pot fried Tofu coated with minced meat gravy making it delicious and a favourite among my boys.
Kind of sweet and sour pork ribs a dish where the grandma has her way to pamper her grandsons. They simply love this meat.
Special fried wantan dumpling to usher the coming Chinese New Year celebration, it was yummy, juicy in the inside and a super crispy skin. Indeed a good choice.
Well everything here is good and the pricing is also very reasonable. Thumb up to Dragon Phoenix Seafood.

Hokkien Dishes @ Pu Yuan 炒薯粉小食馆 Jalan Kelang Lama

One more Wednesday ride before we go for our Chinese New Year break, we decided to hit Old Klang Road for the evening with a plan to patronise a Thai BBQ outlet which did not work out at the end. Simply because it was not bicycle friendly at all. We found a better place and had a good time in this humble corner serving traditional Hokkien dishes.
Fried sweet potato flour noodle was everyone's favourite and one plate wasn't enough we ordered another to make sure everyone is happy. By the way this dish is quite difficult to find in this city there is only a few places that serve this delicacy.
Fried rice cakes (炒白粿) - Another popular Hokkien dish "Pei Ker" that is also delicious, comparatively this fried noodle could be found easily at most outlets in Kuala Lumpur.
Our third noodle was Fried Tang Hoon (glass noodle), another yummy fried noodle that has sucessfully satisfied all the hungry entourage.
We ordered two steamed freshwater carp fish head (Song Yee Tou) the first was done with a spicy gravy, the fish was fresh and fabulous.
The next was coated with finely chopped ginger that was equally yummy and heaven.
A simple stir fried cabbage with small dried shrimps and fine strip of carrot was good enough to please us just like what you get at home.
Fried century egg with fish paste was something unique and awesomely delicious. I simply love it.
One whole piece of braised trotter with "fatt choy" black moss for the coming new year of the Monkey.
I am glad that my friend have enjoyed themselves at Pu Yuan, a place secretly tucked behind Old Klang Road with an entrance no one would think is a place for food. Cheers & Happy cycling we then proceeded to another place for more food & drinks. What a way to end the year of the Rooster.

Nyonya Tanjung Bunga - We are back.

The last time I blog on this restaurant Tanjung Bunga was way back in January 2012, business is still as good as usual, the younger generation has taken the restaurant for quite sometime and has been holding the fort very well. Thumb up for that.
Perut Ikan - everyone seems to like this dish very much and it bring us memories when we were living back in Penang, we used to savour this dish either from our mum's kitchen or somewhere in the island and definitely it has vouched to be still a favourite dish among us.
Thai mango salad was very appetising and everyone of us enjoyed it.
Jiu Hu Char - again we talked about my mum's Jiu Hu Char we used to eat whenever she cooked it for Chinese New Year unfortunately this time she has stopped cooking for CNY as eating out was easier when the number of people eating has mushroomed. I prefer my mum's Jiu Hu Char, the one here is slightly too wet.
Coffee spare ribs was interesting and yummy.
4 Heavenly Kings with sambal udang was also delicious comprising of lady's fingers, petai, brinjal and angle (winged) beans.
Claypot Tofu specially ordered for my father in-law something soft and tasty for him to enjoy.
Tomyam was too sour, I told them we are in a Nyonya restaurant we shouldn't have ordered Thai dishes, it's a mistake in deed.
Ever since I was young I have always enjoy prawns cooked in this way that is fried with assam but I like it fried slightly darker and drier.
This Ma Yeaw Yee did not pass my fellow companions as they were the ones behind the kitchen of Ping Wah that specailises this fried fish dish. I would think it's has to do with the freshness of the fish.

One of the Wednesday Evening Rides in Klang Valley

As usual our gathering point is either at Lake Ttiwangsa or Bandar Utama (My Bicycle Shop). This time around we met up at the club at KGT PDRM Titiwangsa. We just love the ginger tea (teh halia) here it is really awesome. One must try the fresh ginger flavoured tea in Titiwangsa.
Below are three clips of the evening ride to Seri Gombak for a dinner.
Part 1 - Getting out of lake Titiwangsa.

Part 2 - Into the kampong at Sentul somewhere along the DUKE Highway. We have to use many bridges to cross the highways and Gombak River.

Part 3 - Finally we reached our destination at Restoran Sin Kee for our dinner and headed back on a different route using bicycle lanes built by DBKL (local council).
The eleven of us at Dataran Merdeka before we adjourned at the club with a distance of 35km covered for the evening.
Till then we shall see you again.
