Day 13 Korea Cycling Adventure - Gyeongju to Busan

Good morning Sodamjeong, what's in the menu for breakfast. The kitchen facility at the Hanok stay.
What a lovely compound to have our morning meal. Thank you again.
Our last posing with Kim Eun Hee, our friendly host of Sodamjeong Hanok. We hope to come back again and all the best to Sodamjeong Hanok. It's simply a great stay in Gyeongju.
Our Bromptons neatly placed at the lower compartment of the bus and it's bye bye Gyeongju.
The fare from Gyeongju to Busan was 4,800KRW taking approximately 1 hour with a distance of 86km.
Busan here we come, our last destination for this tour.
Our enquiry session with the Tourist Information Centre at the Intercity Bus Terminal, we have to take a train from Sangsa Station to Busan Station. The lady is so shy to be photographed.
We love this Korean bulgogi burger and we were back for it at Busan Intercity Bus Terminal. Funny thing is the the second time did not taste as good as the first one.
Patbingsu, shaved ice to share and it was delicious.
Out of the underground at Busan Station, we saw a bus stop that we have to remember, we will be here on our last day to the airport. It is near to the motel where we were staying.

Our motel for the 3 nights located near Busan Station. The location is good and pricing is reasonable.
40 Steps in Busan located in Jung-gu is one of the interesting tourist place that reflects the time during the 50's & 60's when the country was downed with war. Many were misplaced during the war ant this area was kind of a meeting place to find one's loved ones and relatives.
The accordion man entertaining the folks and bringing up the atmosphere at a time during the war.
We were back on our wheels to see places in Busan.
After so many days in Korea and about almost all our meals came with lettuce for wrapping the food and rice. I have kind of enjoyed eating ssamgal, Here as we were cycling up to Gamcheon Cultural Village I saw potted lettuce outside a house.
Colourful houses built on the hill slope, steps or staircases are everywhere some slopes are steep and with many interesting alleys. Busan Gamcheon Village is so visible from a distance.
At the main entrance of the village and the beginning of the wonderful and colourful place, it's so refreshing to walk. Our Bromptons were kept in the Tourist Information office for a small fee.
Enjoying ice cream as I enjoyed being at the Cultural Village, it's simply colourful at every corners of it.
Dreaming of Machu Picchu in Busan
It was easy down hill rolling back to Busan centre
A brief visit through a covered market.
We had a good find at this BBQ restaunant called as Donenu 烤肉, the pork belly is simply gorgeous and always went well with the light Korean beer (Hite).

Good night from Busan Station.

Day 12 Korea Cycling Adventure - Yangdong Traditional Village

It was already the 12th day in South Korea, today we will be going to Yangdong Traditional Village without our bicycles. After a short walk from Sodamjeong Hanok we were at a bus stand waiting for Bus No:203 unfortunately we missed the one we were supposed to take. Then came Bus 200, we told the driver where wanted to go and he asked us to board the bus. We took the risk without knowing whether the communication went through correctly.
Bus No:200 stopped at a junction which is 2km away away from Yangdong, so we had to take the walk, anyway the bus got us close to the village.
The walking trail was quiet and straightforward. The weather remained absolutely fine and good.
In 2010, Yangdong Village was listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites as "The Historic Village of Korea".
Gyeongju Yangdong Village (양동마을) is Korea’s largest traditional village, showcasing the traditional culture of the Joseon Dynasty and the beautiful natural surroundings. Thanks to its many cultural heritages, including treasures, national treasures, and folklore materials, the entire village has been designated as a cultural heritage site. Many people have visited this village to see its wealth of cultural heritages and scenic surroundings.

The folk village contains over 160 traditional houses and 54 of these are over 200 years old. The village is an excellent window into the lifestyles of historic Korea.
We spotted this house serving as a cafe and without any hesitation we popped in for some refreshment.
At last a place to sit and refresh ourselves.
The ice cream wasn't as good, it was rather icy than creamy...
The village is well preserved and well maintained with proper toilets at various corners of the village.
Our lunch in the village with many dishes of kimchee and one of them was a preserved cockles. A friendly Korean couple who came back from Toronto helped us out in our food order.
It was more walking and some hiking after a good lunch.
Like a typical village the rich and intellect would stay in a bigger compound, bigger house and on a higher land.
Not too from our accommodation we were recommended by Miss. Kim of Sodamjeong to try this place.

Our Bromptons were parked outside the restaurant where I guess for smokers to take their puff.
The insider of the restaurant, we opted for a chair-less table for our dinner.
The beef for our Korean wrapped rice meal with fresh lettuce which they called it ssambap.
Byul Chae Ban is the native food of Gyeongju.

Project B Sentul - Dignity for Children Foundation

My wife told me of this place in Sentul a few months back, we were supposed to visit and blog it. At last we made it to the place and it's time to find out more about this unique cafe. A project by Dignity for Children Foundation.
I was glad to see some associations who are involved in this project such as Seksan, Eats Shoots & Roots and Mr. Obama too.
I like the theme of black & white it is simple (influence of the Big Group eatery) and conducive. I hope to bring my cycling buddies to visit this place one of these Wednesday evenings, pretty cool and let's support this Project B.
I enjoyed my nyonya laksa very much.
Xiang's beef burger.
Jo had this spaghetti with chicken.
Zuyi's  choice of Nasi Lemak Rendang.
Fried chicken wings as side order.
And lastly, Signature classic Brownie with chocolate cookie.
My boys having a game of chess while waiting for the food to come.
A project that enable the underprivileged children for a route through good education, training and blending into the good society.
The space is sponsored by Berjaya Cares Foundation and F&B possible by the Big Group. The place is run by the children from the school under the guidance of the partners in this projects.
