We stayed two nights at Desa Pelangi Apartments at Jalan Logan, Penang. The place needs refurbishment.

Our first meal for the Dragon Year at Pulau Tikus.

Homemade Wan Than Mee - It's always open during the 1st Day of Chinese New Year.

For the boys we bought Mee Goreng for them and from this once a upon a time a famous Mee Goreng stall at Jones Road.

That's the Mee Goreng (Fried Indian Noodle) in takeaway form.

Sin Boon Chang my uncle was happy to be at this gathering at my mother's place.

Both born on the same year one is an early child and one is a year end child, no wonder one is taller than the other.

My sister Bee Leng & mum taking a break. They have been busy preparing for this festival occasion and we thank both of them for their endless efforts.

Chinese New Year is all to also about eating and eating. And we love to eat.

It's time to balik kampong and I have been doing this since 1977. I dread to do it every time.

We went back on the eve of Chinese New Year and the traffic was fine. We could afford to detour to Ipoh for Dim Sum @ Foh San.

As expected the restaurant was crowded and need to scramble for a table before you can eat.

Self service and lots to to eat.

This year my father-in-law followed us back to Penang.

My niece, Lilian arranged a buffet reunion dinner at Eastin Hotel @ Queensbay, Penang.

A time where I meet up with all my brothers & sister and their children and all have grown up.

Johnny's Steam Boat @ Setiawangsa AU2

It was a good idea to have dinner at Johnny's @ AU2 Setiawangsa. Food outlets at AU2 Setiawangsa are having difficult time to sustain and many have closed down. It really requires a long gestation period in order to see result.

The concept of this Jusco Mall is interesting and hopefully it will become popular among all the people around in Setiawangsa.

Johnny's is doing well and I reckon it's the type of food you are serving that is important which is different and interesting enough to attract patronage. Well Done Johnny!!!

Steamboat with Thai flavour, yes Johnny's is a Thai restaurant you can get basic Siamese food here besides the steam boat.

The service is fast and sitting outside during night was a good idea.

We decided to have steam boat and some Thai noodle and fried rice.

Khee Liang & Eugenie Wedding Dinner @ Oriental Pavillion

As we grow older our children have turned adults and one by one they get married.

Congratulation to Ho Lala & Susan and also Khee Liang & Eugenie.

According to Jo this was one of the best wedding dinner she have attended she really enjoyed the food.

Uncle uncle aunty aunty let's cheer for a happy occasion.

Our table was heavy on the whisky and the ladies happy with the white wine.

Chilled lobster & house made Tofu was fabulous despite the salad cream was a bit too much.

Doubled boiled Coral Shark fin in coconut was my top one favourite for the night

Business is good at Setiawangsa's McDonald outlet

Prosperity promotion is back with the pepperish flavour that makes the burger Oriental and in conjunction with the coming Chinese New Year. Kongsi Kongsi....

You can either have it beef or chicken, I like beef burger.

The amount of onion is lesser this year and the patty is less dense and loose, not as chunky as last year. See my previous year posting here.

I have been passing by this shop almost everyday and of late I was paying a lot of attention to this spot. This is my second time visiting it and I like the food here. It's always crowded during peak hours and their fried ayam kampung is most popular. It's also a popular place to "bungkus" (takeaway) their delicious food. So go try it out I am sure you will like too.

RM10.00 for this combo and it's my lunch comprising of half portion of plain rice, a fried drum stick, bean sprouts, ulam (salad) with salad belacan, and a succulent and delicious squid.

To all Kelantanese, I found a stall that serves your hometown food. I was told that this warong is famous among Kelantanese and if you do not know of this place probably you ought to check it out.....

The spread of food here is huge and most of the dishes are alien to me.

Anak Anak Kelate .... it's all about Kelantan in the warong.

Sambal sauces, chilli soy sauces all stacked and ready for you.

Too many to choose and having no good knowledge of Kelantanese food is a big disadvantage at this warong and none of my friends who came together are from Kelantan. So I have to be conservative in my selection.

Just take what you like from here, bowls of different dishes that make you drool.

Flower crabs the gravy is super duper good.

Plenty of Ulam salad and not forgetting their sambal belacan...

My favourite kambong fish and to be eaten with budu....

Tuaa Mark Pan (大眼板面家) Mee House @ Jinjang, Kuala Lumpur

Where ever you may be, there will be some interesting food around the area. I was in Jinjang and was figuring what to eat as usual, then I remember Tuaa Mark. Tuaa Mark means "Big Eyes" in Hokkien, something like Betty Davis'eyes.

The waiting time was pretty long maybe 25 minutes as the business was good.

The shop next door selling stuffs for communicating with other worlds.

This chilli sauce is different from most pan mees' sauce, this is closer to sambal belacan and it's oily.

A typical small size noodle with an egg added and cost RM5.00. The amount of broth was full to the brim and very tasty. I like it.

Lan Je Steamed Rawang Tilapia Fish @ Kota Damansara

Lan Je is getting more famous with more branches sprouting in Klang Valley as far as Balakong and Subang Jaya. This shop is at Kota Damansara and has been opened since 2009. My work place is nearby and have been here numerous times and the quality of food has been consistent.

The menu hanging on the wall all written in Chinese so you have agar agar or take notice of what been served on other tables.

Almost everyone is having a fish each and the cost is about RM17.50 so it not cheap eating here. The tilapia fish has been "detoxicated" for a while (to take away any muddy smell) before serving it.

I like it with extra chilli padi giving extra oomph in my meal.

It was on our way back to back KL during our North Trail, we were supposed to have lunch in Ipoh but time was running out. Kok Leong brought us here, Restoran Soon Chi at the main trunk road of Sungai Bakap.

The food here was one is of the best during the entire trip of visitings and makan. Pricing was reasonable and service was fast. It's obviously a place that is worth another visit.

Efficiency is the name of the game, hot water in thermos flasks really for your uninterrupted Chinese tea drinking.

Jo wanted to eat "Yip Kwong Hor" and in anticipation of seeing a bright yellow moon on the fried noodle but it did not happen..... anyway the fried noodle was very good it was done the Sungai Bakap style....& way to go Sg. Bakap!!!

A jug of passion drink into Guinness ice packed glasses and it's non-alcohol.

Nice cold and interesting Passion fruit juice.....

Crab porridge was as good as Nibong Tebal's, the crabs were fresh and sweet. Everyone loves it.

Pork ribs deep fried with salted eggs would be lovely if there were beer or whisky around but unfortunately we are driving....

Simple stir fried cabbage with small dried shrimps and yet ho jiak.

Another veggie just like home cooked stir fried long beans with prawns .... truly yummy.

This is something special, it was a promfret fish (local) done in two tastes, what you are seeing is the super crispy fried fish bones & fins and 100% palatable. and the fish meat is buried under neath.

The first plate of fried koay teow noodle for two person wasn't enough to go around, they wanted to savour more and requested another plate to complete the lunch and this time we requested to see the yellow moon.... I prefer the first plate. Never try telling the local chef how to cook.... stick to their way and you will enjoy the food. "Chow"...

Tree Top Walk @ Sg. Sedim, Kedah

Haja, a cousin of my Kulim schoolmate, I have just met him a couple of weeks ago and I am back here again @ Restoran Haja with my relatives for breakfast.

We enjoyed the roti canai, fried chicken and mee goreng specially fried by En. Haja himself. Come to Restoran Haja and savour his lovely Nasi Kandar in Kulim. You will definitely like his Nasi Kandar.

Here we were @ Sg. Sedim Tree Top Walk, we were lost for an hour searching for the place, it was my mistake looking Kuala Sedim instead of Sg. Sedim.The Tree Top Walk Sg.Sedim is an eco-camp resort located in Gunung Inas Forest Reserve, Kulim, Kedah.

Before the walk, a few snaps inside the building where you will see some exhibits of the materials used in the construction of the tree top walk and the ticketing booth for the entry fee.

Okay they are ready to walk at the tree top and the weather was excellent and cooling in a real tropical jungle setting, the sound, the smell & etc etc....

With a beautiful river down there, rafting activity is also available should you are interested in it.

Enjoy the magnificent flora & foliage at Sg. Sedim.

It's safe to walk here as it's well protected with galvanised iron mesh platform and railings.

A Brief Visit to Penang Island for Courtesy Calls

Our first visit was to Chowrasta Market at Penang Road, the famous wet market in Penang. I get free iced kopi- "O" whenever I am here but provided this Uncle in apron is around. He is still very strong and healthy manning the shop by himself.

It's holiday time the market is packed with all kind of people from all over, let's buy some nutmegs back home....

The side of Chowrasta Market, don't ever bother to park your car next to it, just park it away and take a stroll.

Next stop was at my mother's apartment, waaaah so many visitors at her home very "lau juawak" & "ong" is coming....

That's all about getting close in a family tie and on behalf of my mother, I would like to say "Kamsiah" for visiting her home.

My mother's hospitality is No.1 and I got a lot to learn from her.

Got Lobak, Siu Yok, pineapple, mango & papaya and all these for sneak. Thank you, Mum.

Old Kulim scent is still there at this corner, the smell of the market, the temple but not the bus station anymore it has been relocated......

This is the aunty selling "Koay Chap" in the morning and all the customers were mostly elderly people.

Assorted duck drum sticks if you care to try, very enticing indeed.

Kulim Golf & Country Resort is situated at Kulim Hi-Tech Park and I just need to pay for using the buggy and no green fee required. Thanks to the affiliation with Kelab Rahman Putra Malaysia. It's a beautiful course and the only one in Southern Kedah.

Just the two of us and fortunately we were allowed to play during weekend.

27 Holes with bungalows slowly but surely coming up and a nice place to stay, relax and play golf.

My friend from Singapore was having a good time @ Kulim Golf & Country Club and thanks to the wonderful weather. Just before one o'clock in the afternoon we were done with 18 holes and time was running out we have to cross over to Penang Island.

Fried Porridge @ Fong Ting Siew, Serdang Kedah

A year ago we were here for the famous fried porridge and we were back with more or less the same people eating more or less the same food at Fong Ting Siew.

It tasted as good as like before smoky, delicious and sinful because it has a lot of lard in it.

Cockle small in size again in sweet and sour sauce but yummy.

Apple salad with cuttlefish crisp and onions. Truly appetising.

Deep fried lemon grass & ginger pork ribs were aromatically lovely and the chew of the ribs was tender and succulent.

Sabah veggie stir fried with belacan was good too.

Assam prawns were also sinfully fried with lard and obviously very delicious.

Assam prawns were tangy and pleasing to our taste buds and causing excessive saliva secreting from the mouth.

Tom Yam fish which we did not try last year and it was a good choice.

Lemon fried chicken an additional order was made to ensure full satisfaction is observed.

Prices at Restoran Fong Ting Siew was reasonable and it's worthwhile to take the long drive from Kulim to Serdang.

Restoran May Tip is a fabulous Thai Food restaurant in Bukit Mertajam, Kok Leong used to work as a Bank Manager in BM and he knows this place well. In fact the lady boss still remember him, he must be a regular customer way back in the 90's.

"Meangkam" an unique appetiser with sireh leaves (betel leaves) to wrap these raw ingredients such as small dried shrimps, cut small ginger cubes, onions, lime, chilli padi, peanuts and toasted grated coconut.

Something like this ...and then wrap & eat it.

That's the way isn't it cute, fun and also very enticing.

Seafood Tom Yam with plain soup "Potek Pla" was so delicious, I like the soup very much.

Deep fried pork knuckle "Kha Moo Krop" very crispy at the skin but tender and delicious in the inside. A super yummy knuckle.

This is our tampered knuckle with a better view of it, the meat was juicy & good.

Advancecon Annual Dinner 2012

Another year has passed, the new year has started and we hope it's going to be a smooth ride despite the uncertain weather cast.

I came with my family with a bit of junior resistance but they have to tag along somehow....hehehe.

Pryscilla Tan, Congratulation for the 10 years service in the company and may you be strong and get well soon.

It's no fun singing to the floor while there were tables "yum senging" all night. Anyway it was good entertainment to some.

Luck girl won a TV, Congratulation!

Miss Lai & Miss Fong were also lucky.

As the tradition goes and mandatory, it's "yum seng" time.

The energetic colleagues were in high spirit and Yeo was also in top form, well done & cheers....

eat Food Village @ Publika, Solaris Dutamas

Though Xmas is over but I still have a back log of postings that needs to be posted.

Here we were at Publika for a dinner, a highly recommended place for makan at eat Food Village.

A very neat and nice place for food though it was a quiet evening when we came but I understand it is always crowded during lunch hours. I like the concept with many popular names picked for all the food stalls. Names like Kin Kin, Sentul Yap's Hokkien Mee, BM Yam Rice etc etc.... And the best part of it is the quality of food is as good as the originals. That was a surprise to me. Thanks to "The Management" for maintaining the good quality, Well done indeed.

Penang Lobak from Lorong Seratus Tahun was good as far as KL hunt is concerned.

Sentul Ah Yap's Hokkien Fried Noodle as sinful as the ori and superbly good.

Wan Tan Noodle (Hong Kee's) was good that my son would not want it to be shared, the char siew was gorgeous according him. He wanted more but sorry maybe... maybe next round my son.....

The Ham Choy soup was unanimously graded a good liking by us. Well done BM Yam Rice.

The BM Yam rice and their soy sauce egg & tofu, what a wonderful meal at Publika.

I like coming to this place, it was a smooth drive from home, no parking hassle and most importantly the food is good. Nothing like going to Lot 10 or Pavillion. Eat Food Village is ideal, I will come back!!!

This restaurant is sited at a dark corner of Taman Furlong now known as Taman P. Ramlee but the lights of Zin Sin are sufficient to brighten the surrounding both inside & outside.

Fish cake nicely fried with right taste and prefect bites.

Curry fish head is as good as the one selling next door during the day time (Peter's Curry Fish head).

Fallopian tubes fried with chilli padi and small dried shrimps. You either like it of hate it.

Steamed free range chicken, juicy & tender.

Stir fried french beans.

Oily & sinful but yummy fried roast pork with chilli padi.

We were on another trail to north of Peninsula Malaysia with the intention of visiting relatives and a bit of makan adventure.

3 cars 14 people with an early crisis. One of the cars’ battery went kaput and a slight delay.

Here we were, the GPS device took us here through Nibong Tebal town, a Malay kampong and eventually a dead end next to a connecting bridge.

It was a short walk under the scorching sun with many motorcyclists using the bridge.

Just at the other end of the bridge you will see Lim Aik Chew’s famous “Kari Udang” shop.

I met two KL friends Lawrence Sze & Simon, not bad out of 7 tables in the shop 2 were friends (feeling at home, hehehe....).

The time was 2.10pm when we were waiting for our food.

Deep fried Golden tail pomfret with preserved bean sauce topping was delicious.

The fresh water prawns specially ordered in advance in their famous curry version, it was spicy and a wonderful experience at Lim Aik Chew. If you miss the supply of fresh water prawns then you will get sea water prawns instead. My advice call first for fresh water prawns.

Steamed roti - a lovely soft bread and the prawn curry was a good match.

The prawns' heads are big and this batch of prawns have sinful roe that you cannot resist.....LOL.

Steamed fish with perserved beans was yummy and fresh.

Stir fried lettuce.

I was driving back from Cyberjaya and out of nowhere a friend overtook me & signaled me for lunch. Alright as I was also thinking of lunch and followed them to this place. Restoran Anwar Roda Baru @ Bandar Bukit Puchong.

Judging from the crowd this place is popular, people working in as far as Putrajaya and Cyberjaya would drive all the way to Anwar's place. The spread of foods is reasonably good.

Ulam as good & healthy as usual.

Squids with long beans simple and yummy.

Balitong in curry - eating this can improve your kissing techniques.

The sayur-sayur we took for our meal spicy hot but wonderful.

Fried kampong chicken was delicious. This has to be their signature dish. I noticed there is another version but with rempah.

Deep fried Ikan Keli (cat fish) with sambal belacan was fabulous.

Thanks to CKK for introducing this hidden place that serves good Kelantanese home cooked food and will definitely drop by again if I am around this area. Bagus bagus.....

Some were skeptical of the food here for unknown reasons but I have always like this place and found it a good place to dine.

It was as usual crowded on a weekend evening and we were fortunate to have a big table to have us all seated together.

Sambal Petai with prawns and squids was averagely good.

Chicken Kapitan was a favourite for my sons, they must have missed Ama's curry chicken.

Paku Veggie salad in tangy sauce with dried small shrimps and chopped onions was interesting and yummy.

Joo Hoo Char was close to my mum's and I enjoyed it but nothing like home cooked .

Deep fried chicken could escape the sight of Zu Yi and had a good share of this dish. Watch out my son...

Vinegear Pork trotter were not my sons's taste, they are used to soy sauce trotter as prepared by their grandmother. But I am sure they will aquire this liking when the time comes.

Assam Curry Fish Head was delicious.

Well, this must to be one of their signature dishes, we love Nyonya curry cuisines..

This wooden coffee shop is unique, most customers were mainly elderly people and there was one table with 4 early birds playing mahjong. The owner seems very comfortable without shirt managing the kopitiam. What a scene for a morning in the inner part of Gombak/Setapak.

Everything seems old & long established and for the first time I see a Malay Stall with a Chinese name "Moy" selling nasi lemak. Don't you think it's unique and wait till you see her nasi lemak.

I think her popularity is due to her generosity of the nasi lemak she provides, it the biggest "bungkus" I ever had for one breakfast. RM5.50 including add-on of fried egg and sotong.

Salmon Run @ KRPM Dinner @ Restoran Tuck Kee

I enjoyed this crackers, it is thin, cripsy, tasty and addictive.

Three bottles of whiskies for this dinner and that is too much for a table of 10.

We pre-ordered a salmon fish from Ah Tuck (the owner of Restoran Tuck Kee) for our salmon run at Kelab Rahman Putra. This was a delicious and sweet raw salmon fish.

The players of the day some were "injured" and some won. That's part of the game and all ended well with a happy & lovely dinner at Restoran Tuck Kee @ Bukit Maluri, Kepong.

The salmon was so truly lovely, everyone enjoyed it and it needs not take a "nihon gin" to serve good raw fish. Ah Tuck can do it.

Shark bone's soup was marvellously tasty.

Smoked duck meat slices at the peripheral with smoked chicken meat at the core. The smoked meat was a bit salty but paired well with Old Parr.

This was an interesting dish of a comnbination of seafoods, fried dried fishes, blanched octopus, baby abalone and jelly fish. Very suitable for our whiskies drinking....

Ah Tuck's creation of the remains of our salmon fish in a clay pot with a mix of cooked meat and crispy fried fish head and bones. It was a great dish and really something special for us.

The grilled lamb did not turn out well, it was slightly tough and fortunately I had the smallest piece and was able to finish it.

Siu Pak Choy with minced meat & chopped prawns toppings was another delicious dish.

It was time for some carbohyrate intake and it had to be a Hokkien Fried Noodle...truly sinful.

Ah Tuck had the honour to mix the fried noodle and the egg. Thanks to Ah Tuck a 100% customer friendly chap.

hApPy winners...

The players for the whiskies challenge.... Almost everyone "ta pau" Ah Tuck's big pau back home after the sumptous meal. There were already talks of the next warfare and looks like one being fixed before the end of 2011.

Kedai Makan Choy Kee @ Sungkai for Braised Pork Knuckle.

Our journey back to KL has to be completed with another adventurous meal and that was in a cowboy town called Sungkai. Truly a quiet town and we found Kedai Makan Choy Kee. It was 2.30pm and the shop was still packed with patrons.

Marmite fried chicken was gorgeous with nice flavour and aroma.

We came for this knuckle and it was a memorable visit @ Choy Kee for this wonderful braised pork knuckle.

The skin was in a perfect condition for excellent bites and chew. Of course the meat was cooked to perfection. Nothing was left from this plate just the bones....

Another common dish liked by customers and it was this tofu with minced meat.

A mix veggie with prawns, squids and lean meat was a good choice for a change.

Haruan fish Steamed with soy sauce was lovely, it was big and meaty slightly more than 2kg.

Deep fried soft shell crabs were also delicious...everyone was pleased with this detour and has no complaint at all coming to Sungkai in fact they loved the food.

It was a long journey to Restoran Tringkap @ Tringkap. The traffic was madness going through Brinchang town where a night market was held next to the road sides. A note of advice, Don't go through Brinchang during Saturdays and especially during school holidays or public holidays.

Steamed free range chicken served with chopped ginger & soy sauce.

Deep fried tilapia fish in slices seems to be the restaurant signature's dish.

Dragon bread veggie "Loong Sou Choy" in belacan stir fried in right flavour & taste.

Stir fried long beans which looks difficult from that we have in KL, seems coarser and darker in green but it tasted good and crunchy.

Clay pot braised lamb for the mutton lovers.

Dinner was over, everyone was worried about the journey back to Tanah Rata... the traffic jam...the pasar malam. Everyone has the same opinion that we should have stay back in Tanah Rata for dinner instead stucked in the traffic jam for hours just to cover for a few kilometres.... A lesson learnt indeed.

Ammache Curry House offers authentic South Indian food with a clean and simple set up. I was here for a simple breakfast. I learned that the word “Ammache” is actually “ grandmother”.

And I always like chapatti. My chapatti was a freshly made bread which came with cabbage mixed with potato & others and a small stainless steel bowl of fish curry gravy.


I enjoyed this fresh & warm spicy curry tenggiri fish and matches well the warm chapatti. It was a total exhilaration.

Restoran Tonny @ Tapah for Eel Delicacy

As planned, we wanted to eat eel delicacy in Tapah and there are few shops that serve such food. Restoran Tonny is one of them located near and opposite side of the Police Station.

Braised pork belly with yam turned out to be a favourite among us.

The aroma of this pork rib was so distinguish & good and not forgetting the delicious bites of this meat dish. Thumb up for this one.

These two vegetables were yummy paku veggie and a stir fried sawi.

Steamed frogs with rice wine and soy sauce were not everybody liking but it was super duper yummy to some.

At last the chunky and succulent eel fried with dried chilli was the highlight. Onagi as the Japanese would called it. And Tapah provides one of the best and you must try it.

15 of us into two tables and everyone was happy with this visit.

Cameron Highlands After a Long Long Time

The last time I went to Cameron Highlands could be decades ago. This is Lata Iskandar a popular stop over for picnic at a waterfall or some shopping of the local produces.

The minute I parked my car next to this stall I asked this new found "brother" to open one of these king of fruits for me even though we just had lunch at Tapah.

The rest of the entourage was looking for me and found me eating durian here. They joined me for a lovely durian eating. RM5.00 per kg just in case you want to know the price.

The banana is sold at RM5.00 per kg 100% no fertiliser is used and 100% organic. A big bundle of "petai" for RM55.00.

The traffic on a Saturday afternoon was bad upon reaching Tanah Rata, fortunately the apartment we were staying is just before the town. The setting was lovely just like England wet and cooling. It's going to be a a wonderful weekend at Cameron Highlands.

Let not stay too long in the apartment and let see places of Cameron Highlands.

The rain comes and go we were slightly hampered by it. We went around the town of Tanah Rata and took shelter from the wet weather. Our next plan was to travel up to Tringkap for dinner but it was a bad decision to have dinner there on a Saturday evening where the traffic was exceptionally heavy coupled with a night market at Brinchang. It was a long drive to and fro just to have dinner at Restoran Tringkap.

I was the first to sleep and first to wake up, I sneaked out of the apartment to this Indian Eating Shop for a hot tea and a packet of Nasi Lemak. The sky was still dark.

Took time to shoot some beautiful flowers around Green Hill Apartments.

A vibrant town with many hotels & apartments for tourists and also colourful in a way.

Papa Johns @ Alpha Angle Wangsa Maju

I was reluctant to go with them for pizza (it's not my favourite food). I got no choice but to follow my wife and two boys to Papa Johns @ Alpha Angle, Wangsa Maju.

The restaurant looks brand new, clean and conducive.

Zu Yi started to coax me with a creamy mushroom soup.

I like it. The soup was concentrated with full of irresistible taste of mushroom.

Free pepperoncini (green chili pickle), special creamy garlic dipping sauce and special Papa Johns sauce for the potato wedges.

Baked potato wedges golden brown with crispy outer layer and smooth in the inside. Dip these wedges into the red sauce and feel the sensation.

Bread sticks baked from fresh dough and is served with the creamy garlic sauce....dip dip and bite it. Jo love the aroma of the bread and also the wonderful taste of this bread stick.

Succulent & juicy chicken wings well marinated with interesting spiciness in the meat.

Baked Garlic pepper Rice with a combination of ground beef, onions, green pepper, beef bits, topped with Mozzarella cheese and Bologniase sauce. Xiang Yi loves it very much.

Fisherman's Catch with crabsticks, tuna, frsh green pepper and onions.

Given a choice I would not opt for this again.

This pizza is half and half. Half All Meats and half Pepperoni.

This piece is more like it, pepperoni slices, cheese added, chicken roll, Italian sausages, beef bits and ground lean beef.... so much of meat how not to be good.

Food Tasting For Company Annual Dinner @ Ah Yat Abalone Forum Restaurant, PJ

Well another year is about to complete and another annual dinner is about to come. This year the committee has decided to have it at Ah Yat Abalone Forum Restaurant. Braised Shark fin soup - a lot would disapprove this dish.

Roasted crispy suckling pig would not be in the menu for the annual dinner, 4 seasons were opted and hopefully it's good.

We will be blessed with "Blessedness Meal" at RM898 nett as budget is tight.

Stewed whole abalone with fish maw & broccoli.

A record of the size of the abalone and hopefully the size do not shrink during the night.

Battered Tiger Prawns - the floss was nicely done and tasty.

Crispy roasted chicken Ah Yat style nothing really special about it.

Steam Gaorupa fish which could be mistakenly as "Soon Hock" fish. It was yummy and we would aspect it to be the same quality during the function.

What a lovely lunch.....

Fried rice in lotus leaf.

Double boiled papaya with white fungus & longan.

And lastly some good looking pastries to complete the "Blessedness Meal".

I wanted to eat Bak Kut Teh at this yellow sign board shop but it was closed (don't go on Fridays). So I ended up eating at the shop next door @ Lim's Kitchen.

It was either after peak hour or it was rather competitive to run a eating shop at Bandar Menjalara. Quiet isn't it?

I ordered a bowl of fish paste noodle with came with slices of fish cake and added-on 5 lovely fish balls.

Though I did not indulge myself in any sinful meal supposedly to be at next door but I was happy that I ate at Restoran Lim's Kitchen. My lunch was awesome. It was healthy with good bouncing moment with the succulent fish paste noodle & fish balls. I do not mind to come back again.

Every good thing has to come to an end and it's time to say bye bye to Pangkor Island Beach Resort.

Some want to stay back and some just cannot wait to go back.....

We went to the old shop at the main road (Raja Omar) and it was closed. They have moved into this new place standing majestically at the fringe of Sitiawan, Restoran Bei King.

Believe it or not, we had 3 plates of this fried oysters (with added oysters requested).

Pork dishes for the meat lovers as there wasn't much of a choice in the island.

This first plate of Hockchew noodle was delicious and went finished very fast.

This was the "Loh" version with mini oysters & meat hiding in it and not as popular to the kids.

This is my favourite dish steam fish in Thai style, the soup was awesome which came with a bowl of it.

And lastly a four heavenly king vegetable fried to complete a meal for 13 hungry people just released from a "prison" resort.

Pangkor Island Beach Resort 2011 - End Year School Holidays

It's time to bring the children out for a holiday together with our neighbour Ung. Our first stop, Restoran Ah Pek Lee Kou Hock at Kg. Cina, Sitiawan for lunch. GPS: N4 10.775 E100 40.855

The place is situated at a remote part of a kampong it was crowded with patrons and the restaurant was obviously under staf. There was a bit of confusion here and there but eventually came our food with a steamed fish to start off. Everyone was happy with the fish.

This is one dish I love most where you can hardly get it done this way in Kuala Lumpur. The squids were super fresh, chewy and delicious. I gonna miss this dish.

Most of us like the fried oysters in Sitiawan but I just don't really fancy it, I find it oily and hardly any feel of oysters in it.

If I compare the prawns I just had recently in Tawau, I prefer Tawau's. Though not as good looking as Tawau's but equally fresh and tasty in its own way.

These must be local oysters, they do not look as good as those imported but it tasted good.

La La Clams small in size and cooked as a soup with cucumber which I guess is common in Sitiawan. Not bad a dish to savour.

Fish maws cooked in a Hock Chew style with nice and interesting sourish taste something like a szechuan soup. I like it.

The children has to like this dish as the rest was not so attractive to them, this was the only fried dish on the table and like it or not they have no choice. We will order more fried dishes to satisfy the young ones in the next round.

Fried flower crabs another dish not so popular among the young children...sorry kids this is a seafood restaurant not McDonalds or KFC just bear with us...

Our cars were safely parked in a Government building nearby the jetty.

Welcome drinks awaiting us .... I knew it .... it's going to be "prison" in a way the moment we checked in.

Beautiful resort indeed and I remember the last trip I came here was back in the eighties and was known as The Pan Pacific Resort Pangkor.

There is a lot of hornbills in Pangkor Island, the beak is not red in colour like those in Sarawak. These birds are loud birds fortunately not angry birds.

We love the crabs and wanted more but this time in sweet & sour flavour..... so enticing......

This was for the kids "KFC" look alike....something to please the kids....

Steamed garoupa Teochew style was ideal. The freshness of the fish and the sourish taste were excellent.

It was crab again with spicy curry flavour ... how nice if we have some steamed "man tou" dumpling to go with it.

Fried oyster omelette was everyone's favourite.

Fried Mantis prawns were gorgeous they were fresh and juicy some even had roe in them.

Sweet & sour pork... for the boring kids and nothing sexy about this.

Deep fried squids were good and another happy moment for the children....

Mixed vegetable is always my favourite since college days and I still like it. I was happy the rest enjoyed this too.

Ham Yee Far Lum was not that attractive, a bit plain and wet for a salted slice pork belly.

That was the first day outing during a year end school holiday in Pangkor Island. We hired a taxi (van) to reach the town for local food and were happy to eat out instead in the hotel....
