Down Memory Lane to Padang Serai, my Birth Place.

I love this town.
This is the cowboy town where I was born and spent my childhood days here with many memories.
There were only three main roads in Padang Serai, where I would cycle around the town freely and no worry whatsoever. The roads are Bagan, Baling & Lunas but the town has mushroomed tremendously with many houses and shops towards the nearby kampongs.

Though I did not study here in this school called Shang Cheng but I spent a lot of time here especially my for favourite sports like basketball, volleyball, football and Sepak Raya (now known as Sepak takraw). The front wing now is a newly built building which I am glad for the people in Padang Serai. I miss the old design of the front facade of the school as compared to this boxy design.

This must be my favourite fruit stall at the bus station where I would empty all my shillings of the day for drinks, jelly or fruits before I would walk back home after school.
The big trees are still standing majestically at the bus station, I remembered I enjoy watching road side traders peddling selling traditional medicine & magic shows or snakes handling and many more.
One of the few old shops in town still around and nostalgic but slowly they will be replaced with new ones. This shop belongs to my primary school classmate he has stayed on and took over from the older generation.
The few more oldies further down Bagan Road.
This market is new to me, it used to be a Sunday Market. I missed the Sunday market.
Another case of old shop that have ceased business, I like the Bihun soup cooked by En. Azmi, I wonder where is he now?
Somewhere along this block of shops used to be our house, a wooden hardware shop and also my birth place. I am still hunting old images of them.
Opposite our house I used to see this view daily and it is still standing there today for me to see.
Just in case you do not know where is Padang Serai, these are the neighbouring towns.
I attended my Aunty Gosim's funeral and had a chance to meet old friends and old places....time flies...

Training for Penang CFAL @ Bukit Damansara

On a Wednesday night a group of cyclists gathered at Damansara Heights for a ride in the name of training for the coming Penang CFAL. Most of the riders are foldies.
It was also a good time to meet new friends and for some it was their first ride of such nature.
A snap with the organiser Miss.Well and a special thank you to her for arranging this ride.
The discovery of a pair that looks alike Jimmy & Joe.
At Shell petrol station counting the sheep and making sure no one is missing.

Some of the faces of the night.

This is one fast & dashing folding bike and this rider surely cycles fast too.
Another lady rider among the several and they are good riders mind you.
After a sweaty and tough outing especially going up the difficult climbs, it was time to repay the pain we suffered with some beer & Guinness Stout. We shall meet again.

Nasi Lemak Kampung @ Etta's Kitchen AU4/1

One of my neighbours recommended an unique place for Nasi Lemak bungkus which is somewhere in the vicinity of  Fairview International School, Wangsa Maju. I took it as a challenge to locate this place with some vague descriptions of the location from my wife.
Normally people would call & book for their orders especially those in big number.
I could only carry 10 packets with my bike and reached home safely.
This was time to check Etta's Nasi Lemak Kampung at home. RM1.20 per packet.
The steamed (kukus) rice is grainy, the aroma was pleasant and the sambal is gorgeous, I took 2 packets of these as my breakfast of the day.

Delicious Noodles @ Kwai Sun, Subang Jaya SS15

There are three foods that I like most from this coffee shop called Restoran Kwai Sun (Branch) SS15 Subang Jaya.
First choice is the Char Koay Teow - this fried noodle with a mix of yellow noodle and Koay Teow. I like it as it's correctly dry, spicy and good.
The second choice is the Mee Goreng (Nyonya style) from another stall. As compared to most Mamak stalls in Klang Valley I think this is good.
Mee Rebus from the same stall as the Mee goreng, I like the thick gravy it's so yummy that I cleaned up the whole plate......

Super Sunday Ride @ Bukit Cahaya

I would like to thank Dave Ern & his team for organising this beautiful event  in Bukit Cahaya, Shah Alam.

From folding bikes to road bikes, young and old and most importantly from all kind of races of Malaysian ethnicity taking part in the event. The weather was fantastic it was after a night down fall a couple of hours before we rode.
I am already in the fifth month into this hobby and these two newbies are slowly but surely into it too. Welcome  my friends. A simple but nice breakfast at Pelita Section Nine Shah Alam before we start to ride.
8:10 - The gate is still closed and we found out that it will only opened at 8:30. A good time to mingle around meet new friends.

8:20 - The orginasers have pre-purchased entry ticket for us. Only RM3.00 per person. And a separate entrance for visitors in group.
Father & son team from Puchong.
8:40 - Briefing by Dave.
End of the briefing three hand phone numbers were given in case of any emergency. The folding bikes were given the honour to start first.

8:55 - Experiencing the beautiful but not easy ride of the Stage 1.

9:00 - Stage 1 was completed without any hassle.

Getting ready for a group photo session at the Cactus Garden.
9:05 - Time to resume Stage 2 ride.
9:10 - On the way for Jalan Bersih
The Birdie group at the junction for the most challenging ride up jalan Bersih.
9:22 - A mother going up the hill
Keep it up kids.....there were some uncles and aunties whom did not did this special stage....Bravo to you.

Another young warrior moving on the battle.
9:30 - Some of us who did not go for the most toughest ride came here for a break, the ticketing booth.
9:45 - Though Nazar did not made it this time but he vows to do it the next time. Bersih shall wait.
9:55 - Only me & Nazar at the end of Stage 4 Empangan Sg. Baru, those who went up to Menara Sapu Tangan have yet to come down here.

@ Empangan Sg. Baru.
10:10 - Stopped for a cold & sweet quenching pineapple juice at a Spices & Beverages Fair.

Intersting fair but poor crowd, probably lack of publicity.
10:20 - on our way out to the last Stage.

10:30 - Friends waiting for the rest of the members to come back from their rides.
12:00 noon - Our lunch at Restoran Nasi Ayam A. Hassan @ Section 13 Shah Alam before we went back home.
