Laksa Utara @ Taman Setiawangsa

This is a Malay rice noodle originated from the northern states of West Malaysia.

I have always prefer the Malay version of laksa, I like its fishy flavour soup and not so sourish as compared to the Chinese type.

I can remember how I loved Pak Daud's laksa assam, Pak Daud's laksa noodle was drier in texture, not so sticky and came in circular layers. You can not find such unique noodle in the city.

Pak Daud used to pedal his mobile stall, a three wheeler from Padang To' Dik to Padang Serai (Kedah) about 5km away to serve his wonderful laksa.

He served his laksa in enamel coated metal plates and metal spoons. Course salt was available in Brand's Chicken bottle, you just add the salt yourself to your laksa. Pak Daud's laksa came without any egg.

Taman Setiawangsa's Medan Selera, a food court where you can try lot of Malay foods beside Laksa Utara. GPS position : 3.1798, 101.741
