A new eating corner is found at Taman Setiawangsa serving northern Malay dishes. I was having Mee Rebus. Mee Rebus literally means boiled noodle.
Yellow noodle and bean sprouts in a quick blanch with a sieve and coated with a thick & sweet potato gravy.
Then it was garnished with a half calamansi lime, hard boiled egg, dry fried tofu cubes and fried sliced shallot. This Northern version of Mee Rebus is sweeter in taste at times friends from the Southern part of the country would find it not so favourable.
Kak Zah mobile stall serves the following delicious dishes such as cendul, rojak or pasembur, laksa & mee rebus. A truly street food of Malaysia.

Wah Tai Lim, have not had this type of Mee Rebus for a long time.
ReplyDeleteThe best was in Brown Garden in Glugor, Penang. The mamak staying in Lorong Endah 3 used to sell in the evenings.
This was in late 71 & 72. I wonder if he is still around.
Faizul - what were you doing at Brown Garden. I studied at Glugor Primary School before lah.
