My City Ride in Singapore

Since I started cycling 5 months back I have met many new friends and over in Singapore I met Peter Chong & Tan LK. Both are such lovely guys who took time off to show me around in this modern & clean city. 10.30am we met as scheduled.

From the Value Hotel Thompson where I was staying at Balestier Road we headed towards the iconic landmarks such as the (MBS) Marina Bay Sands, Singapore Flyer and etc etc... Views of old shop houses nicely refurbished such as this row is a common scene in this country.

Tan & Peter know exactly where to go, they took me to interesting nooks & corners including short cuts which are very safe to cycle. I was very impressed with them.

This is where F1 race will be taking place come this September. The affected place has been cordoned for the necessary preparation.

After passing by the F1 site, I could see the building of MBS appearing.

There you are.... getting closer and closer.

This road (I guess) could lead you to the door front of the casino at MBS.

From MBS we moved to Keppel Road with a lunch plan to have Ya Hua Bak Kut Teh.

One of the popular Bak Kut Teh shops in Singapore.

We were there before peak time, by 1.00pm the place was packed with office workers.

Braised Tow Pok (bean curb) and braised soy sauce pork that are similiar to Kuala Lumpur type.

My main objection was this pepper powered Bak Kut Teh which I like it very much, I had 2 refills of the peppery soup. I must say it's better than the one I had a day before at Ng Ah Sio.

Welcome to Sentosa Island - the gateway to Sentosa Island on a quiet weekday.

Another place of tourist interest of Singapore - The Sentosa Island.

Nothing like a cool bottle of Tiger beer on a very hot day. I guess drinkm & ride with one small bottle of beer is permissible.

Apparently both of these friends took up  this sport not too long ago probably only 5-6 months but they cycle like pro and they are fast. I had hard time catching up with them especially on a climbing ride...Uncle always lagging behind leh....

Marina at Keppel Bay has many distinguished awards making this marina a popular spot for all the rich yacht owners to habour at their yacht here.

Riding along the old wharves of Singapore which have transformed into a modern landscape.

Clarke Quay is one of them.

The pavement along the river side is well connected and friendly for bicycling.

Boat Quay is a happening place in the evening.

Here is how the old way of trading at the river side of Malaya, Chinese men (coolies) without shirts and wore ponytails.

And back to Marina Bay again.

I covered 58km for the day but my Singapore friends came from their respective places covered  at least 70km or so. Thanks again to Peter Chong & Tan LK, it was nice meeting both of you and I hope we will see each other again in future.
