Kuala Lumpur - SS2 Durian Loop 2013

62km loop in the name of eating durian, what an interesting way to eat this thorny fruit. A loop that I have done it before in 2 separate trips going from home to SS2. Hence, I combined these 2 routes into one making it a loop for this event.
The event was created by Rivern Yong where 5 of us took part and we started the ride from the Police Golf Course at Lake Titiwangsa.
We went on a east bound direction via Ipoh Road and into Kepong. But before the ride we deliberated for a while as what to eat for breakfast. The decision was to have Bak Kut Teh which it will be under the Big Tree (Ipoh Road). But before we could reach the BKT stall I told the group about this popular Curry Noodle @ Kopi Kedai Ming Sing and with that we changed our mind.
Dhru being a vegetarian could have his share of bread & kopi (just could not imagine what he will be eating at a Bak Kut Teh stall) and it all went well for everybody.
The popular curry mee and everyone can vouched that it was awesome. See here for an old posting of this eating place.
Now it was time for serious business after a satisfying meal at Ming Sing.
We rode till the end of Ipoh Road (5th Miles) going through  Kepong roundabout & into Jalan Kepong. After a short travel on the busy road (about 300metres) we turn left off into Jalan Jambu Jerteh for a safer ride. It was still early our durian session was supposed to be at 11.30am and we had ample time to kill so we went roaming around Kepong Baru.
Next to Kepong is Desa Park City where we moved towards Kg. Sg Penchala going through construction site and underneath PLUS North South Highway to a nice kampong atmosphere.
Kg. Sg. Penchala, one of my favourite places cool with many canopied trees along the roads.
We met this group of young rollerbladers at Taman Dr Ismail and requested for a photo to be taken together. The similarity of these two sports are both are on wheels and wear helmets.....
At a pedestrian crossing where you could safely cross Jalan Damansara from Taman Tun Dr Ismail to Damansara Kim.
Going to SS2 via Jalan Damansara and the elevated road to Tropicana City is the most sensible thing to do.
Ultimately we reached our destination at SS2. Dhru is such a sport for a foreigner to savour the King of Malaysian fruits. Our local boy Joe shamed away 100% but he gave us moral support....cheers bro.
Shereen & Fenn are great durian lovers though Fenn did not cycle but she and Ann waited for us to eat durian TOGETHER.
I was trying to nego for a good price..
A few of us were a bit lethargic and tired with this added-on visit at Lover's Hill, Universiti Malaya.
Anyway we graduated ourselves in "cyclonogy" and were happy that we visited this campus.
A stop at Brickfields for a Bollywood posing and by judging at this picture I think we did well...right!!! Dhru has finally completed his ride where he started from. We shall see this friend from India again in our future rides. I bet this is the best way for him to see Kuala Lumpur ..... by bicycle.
At Sultan Abdul Samad Building, Dataran Merdeka. The road was closed and we could have the entire road for ourselves to spin around.....
Nothing like a super cold beer to quench our thirst at Royal Selangor Club with my buddy Joe a.k.a. Ah Pek.
That's is it folks, our mission accomplished and with us is Harry Chan, a new "convert", from single handicapper in golf into cycling (I love my poison it's working well hahaha). Welcome to the group.
