Singapore Brompton Day 3rd Annual Gathering

Let's go down south to the historical Lion City it was a long weekend. Together with Jo, my father in-law and Chan we drove to Singapore. A stop over at Johor Baru for a fish head soup before we cross the causeway.

The jam at Singapore custom check point was horrendous the number of vehicles was huge and coupled with a technical hitch everything was at a stand still for more than half an hour. Anyway, the minute I reached Sein Sin's place I headed to Beach Road to check on my Malaysian friends for a pre Brompton Day ride.

I decided to commute from Yio Chu Kang Station to Lavender Station not to lose any more time.

Another 3 km away from the MRT station, let's cycle. Malabar Muslim Jama-Ath Mosque is Singapore's only Malabar Muslim mosque located at the junction of Victoria Street and Jalan Sultan in the Kampong Glam district.

I was glad to see my KL friends in front of the hotel preparing themselves to cycle in the Lion City. I thought I was going to be late after the long held up at the Custom check point.

More Brommies came to the meeting point and were ready to see the city. Thank you to our Singaporean friends for showing us around.

From Five Stones Hostel we went over to a bicycle shop RéCYCLE at Veerasamy Road.

We were going to Block 633.

Here we were at RéCYCLE for a look see and a light refreshment. Thank you for your kind hospitality, RéCYCLE.

An old cargo bike but going strong in the city of Singapore.

William and Gang took us to a newly completed bicycle lane at North Bridge Road.

Besides all the modern bicycles in the city there are still old bicycles around in Singapore and that's such a wonderful sight in a modern city.

I have seen many Green Man in Singapore I bet the population of green man  is on high side judging from the number of stops I had from the Red Man.

And we were back to the Bay, William and Gang briefed us the various directions that could be used for tomorrow's event.

Cycling through the world’s first double helix bridge. It is part of the 3.5 kilometer pedestrian path around Marina Bay.

Inspired by the helicoidal structure of DNA, the pedestrian bridge stretches 280 meters over the bay and includes a computer-controlled lighting system to set the mood.

We had our dinner by the Bay. I love the pork satay and the Tiger Beer.

The night ride around the bay was interesting with beautiful lighting and so it was so lively that night. I love the night scene.

Good night Singapore, we shall meet again tomorrow for the Brompton Day.

It was Labour Day and also it was Brompton Day in Singapore, we left Seletar Hill in the wee morning to Buangkok Station for a MRT ride to Stadium Station.

The train ride took longer than expected and instead of riding to Five Stones Hostel and rode to Garden by the Bay East hoping that we could bump into our friends from KL.

We enjoyed the fresh morning cruise from the Stadium and along the water to the meeting point. The number of Brompton bicycles started to increase ours were on the third rows. It was reported that a total 329 Brompton bicycles registered for this event and it was the biggest number ever. Cheers to Brompton Singapore for this marvelous achievement.

Three hundred over Brompton owners gathered here for a Brompton event where we mingled and shared what Brompton can bring happiness to our lives. Cheers to all the owners.

It was past 1.00pm and the event for Singapore Brompton Day came to an end but we continued our exploration in the island.

Our friend LK Tan volunteered to bring us around after our lunch. So let's go for lunch.

Somewhere in Chinatown there is this food court called Maxwell Road Hawker Centre that is popular and has several good food stalls. Chicken rice is popular but one has to bear the long queue. It is bicycle friendly hawker center as parking is not an issue.

Just opposite the Hawker Centre is the The Buddha Tooth Relic Temple & Museum. The temple features many facets of Buddhist arts and culture of Singapore.

LK Tan brought us to a peak where climbing was essential and painful.

Finally we reached to the highest point in Singapore where we spent some time there, enjoying the scenic views of Singapore and watching the cable cars moving up and down to Sentosa Island.
