One of the Most Interesting Korean Restaurants I have visited in Kuala Lumpur

First of all, I like to apologise for the long silent. Last night we visited a unique Korean joint in the Korean community of Ampang in Kuala Lumpur and everything about this place is awesome. It has been in operation for the last 14 years.
It does not look like a restaurant from the outside nothing that can entice you to walk into the place, even if you take a peep into it, you might be shock in what you see. It cannot be a restaurant.
The first dish was a KimChi soup with thin slices of pork belly, slices of sausage, luncheon meat, vegetables, glass noodle and ramen, It is served on a stainless steel pot on a burner. The first dish was truly welcoming, all of us nodded our heads and gave a first thumb up.
Everyone love this grilled mackerel, juicy and tasty.
Korean pancake is common in Korea and this one is good with lot of vegetable, seafood and minimal starch. Don't miss this dish.
My no.2 favourite is this perfectly grilled succulent pork belly, wrapped it with the green lettuce with a dose of sauce and it's heaven.
Korean rice cake with ramen - a nice sweet and spicy dish.
Pork belly with squid was my no.1 favourite of the night.
 Side dishes for the evening.
The hand written receipt without GST whatsoever and RM198 for 9 of us. Very reasonable indeed.
All were fully satisfied and nothing is spared on the table, even the last bowl of plain rice went into the remaining gravy and the rice with gravy coating was deliciously good too.
We managed to tuck 9 folding bicycles at wherever corners available, at the beginning it was a no-no for us to patronise the place because of the bicycles. Somehow we managed to convince the operator.
By the way, the name of this restaurant is Po-Cha located at Taman Putra Sulaiman, Ampang. You must go and check it out!
Til then we shall be back.

Uncle Arumugam's Naan & Tandoori Chicken Opposite Ampang Point

Welcome to a stall that serves wonderful naans & tandoori chicken found not in any fancy restaurant but in a mere warong situated at Ampang. Opposite the warong is Ampang Point as the major landmark for you to locate this eating wonder.
The naan is soft and lovely to eat, the edges of the naan is crispy and exciting. I took a plain naan while Jo took a garlic naan and my sons had garlic with cheese naans. All were happy with the taste of these dough.
The tandoori chicken has a lot to shout about it's juicy, tender, well grilled and well flavoured. The chance of eating a hard burnt tandoori chicken is absolutely not found here.
We ordered these side orders comprising of spinach, mixed vegetable and prawn masala. Jo fell for the masala.
Surprisingly the serving was fast despite it was crowded and there were some at the queue for take away.
Cups of grated cheese for those who want their naans with cheese.
Two were behind the ovens, two were busy taking care of the queue while others were busy taking orders and of course the customers were busy enjoying their lovely tandoori moment.
There were 4 ovens at work two were made of oil drums and all were busy firing for the night.
There are two satay stalls seen here and I do not know which one is good. My sons an not avoid but ordered some satay for themselves. We were here mainly for the naans & tandoori and I obviously like it

Steamed Fish Head at 126 Mewah Food Court, 驰名新镇清蒸鱼头 Ampang

Probably it was a late breakfast or rather an easy lunch, I decided to go to Mewah Food Court for a nice steamed fish meal and here we were at the stall 126 for a good food venture.
Though it was only both of us I ordered a big one as I was a bit hungry and in the mood for a good meal for the day. It was a freshwater grass crap fish head "Song Yee Tau" totally covered with finely sliced ginger and garnished with parsley and red cabai burung.
The fish head was perfectly steamed, fresh meat and it was so tasty and I love it so much.
Poached spinach with a bit of light soy sauce & fried shallot on it, it was a superb veggie choice, in fact it tasted so good we ordered another veggie.
So another lovely poached veggie on the table, this time a serving of Romaine Lettuce again it was delicious. I like the way they prepare it.
There is this Indon lady doing nothing but slicing only ginger for the popular steamed dishes, I wonder how much ginger they have to order each day.
It was alreay crowded with people at noon time, though it was a hot day but nothing could stop the people from having a good meal in the foodcourt. Go check this place out, have fun and enjoy the food.
The foodcourt viewed from Jalan Mewah 5 and it is the place for a superb steamed fish head in town.

Foong Foong Ampang Yong Tau Foo

People from a distance away as far as Petaling Jaya would take the trouble to travel to Ampang town for a savoury of its famous Yong Tau Foo and what is so special about this YTF. My previous posting of Foong Foong can be viewed here where a group of cyclists rode there for the food..
One thing for sure these YTF are freshly prepared for you. We were there 15 minutes before 9.00am on a Sunday and was told to wait until 9.00 for the food we were served with Chinese tea while waiting for the food to be ready.
Awesome Sui Kow with super crispy fried skin with its delicious hot ingredients in the inside.
Customs started to pour in even the food wasn't ready to be served.
This guy will take your order and voice it over the mike. And when you want to pay he will voice it to the kitchen again to confirm the no. of YTF you have ordered. At the kitchen there is another microphone to respond his call. Ain't it an unique system and what a great characteristic of this restaurant.
This system has been in used over the years even before the use of wifi or PDA to communicate between your order and the kitchen.
The amount of helpers to prepare the food is quite substantiate.
Even young kids are seen helping out (wondering whether these kids were working part time).
Foong Foong is the most popular among the several shops in Ampang. The one next door to Foong Foong seems to be enjoying spill over business. I wonder whether there is any difference in taste between the two.
