Something Exciting for Daddy this Coming Father's Day @ La Casa Restaurant

Mother's day is over it's time for Father's Day and come June 19 it is daddy's turn to be spoilt.
La Casa Restaurant is tucked in a not so busy part of Mont Kiara at Jalan Kiara 5 in a building known as Verve Shops Mont Kiara.
The ambiance is conducive and relaxing with its high ceiling and beautiful decors.
I was fortunate to be invited to savour a special menu for the coming Father's Day celebration while the Chefs were busy preparing the master piece for us.
Big Boy Special is created to make your dad a happy man with a string of adventures for him to enjoy. A portion that is good for two persons to share and all for RM68.00.
An interesting concoction with a mix of orange, lime & mint soda. (It comes with two glasses in the order).
A well smoked barbecue chicken wings, tender and juicy.
Smoked duck with goat cheese pesto and tuna with smoked olive.
Grilled Italian sausage with sweet honeydew with mashed potatoes, fresh tomato confit, soft roasted capsicum.
And on the standard menu you can get other delicious food like this Pan fried Norwegian salmon on bed of spinach and grilled pasta drizzled with teriyaki sauce (RM42).
Smoked chicken in Presto (RM26) - chicken strips and pasta served with light Presto cream sauce.
Slow braised Lamb with Gnocchi (RM42) - the meat was well braised and went well with the gnocchi.
If you are in the mood for a duck indulgence then you should try La Casa Duck Confit, the meat is tender and the taste is just perfect, served with sauteed potatoes & apple-&-orange salad (RM42).
Baked Fish Papillote (RM48) - a seasonal fish fillet with assorted seafood like squid, mussel, prawns baked with white wine in tomato broth. Another yummy choice and most importantly they were fresh.
I opted for a mango ice cream instead of a cheese ice flavour. It so soothing and yummy.  Make a date with La Casa Restaurant and your dad will be very happy with all the pampering he is going to get. Cheers!
Please note that Big Boy Special will be available from June 13th until June 24th, 6pm onwards.
La Casa Restaurant has also laid out a Special Menu in conjunction with Father's Day solely for dinner only on 19 July 2016. So don't miss this opportunity to savour this carefully crafted menu and what more it's specially for the fathers.

Sausage and Ribs Shack, Taman Midah Cheras

Well it's my birthday my lovely wife insisted that we eat out and have a small celebration among ourselves. Thank you my dear and we were somehow at Sausage and Ribs Shack for a wonderful dinner. Please leave your shoes outside before you step in.
Sausage and Ribs Shack is popular for their home made sausages and their pork ribs. It is located somewhere at a funny corner of Taman Midah in Cheras.
It was 7.30pm and it was already crowded fortunately we have made a reservation and the table was ready for us. We forgot to bring our wine.
We have only pre-booked the spare ribs and the rest of the dishes were ordered on the spot.
Coral salad with roasted sesame dressing to start with and a good start indeed.
Since it was a dinner to celebrate my birthday, I ordered a Weihenstephen, a dark light beer to go with my porky meal. The wine we supposed to bring along would be better.
Soup of the day was Pumpkin soup with garlic bread, sweet and tasty.
Here is the BBQ Spanish pork spare ribs - full rack, it was obviously looking very enticing and everyone was waiting to mouth it as soon as the camera was kept away.
The mum did the cutting before anyone can lay their hands on it.
A plate of mixed home made sausages platter, another great dish and most of us preferred the one of the darkest colour it must be the beef sausage.
Then came the spaghetti Aglio Olio with bacon and  mushroom, we shared and like it too.
Two servings of this Portobello mushrooms were placed on the table, another yummy taste of  a well cooked mushrooms.
Our second plate of spaghetti was Aglio Olio with tiger prawns, it tasted the same as the previous one except it came with 2 prawns.
I am 58 going 59 next year, there is no stopping the figure will continue to go up and all I wish is that my body will stay healthy so that I can continue to do the things I like to do.

The Daily Grind at Bangsar for a Burger Treat

It's Xiang birthday and it's his call for a place to celebrate. The Daily Grind was the name he mentioned and the whole family was there for a burger adventure. It is located at Bangsar Village, car parking was easy except for the traffic when approaching the shopping mall.
Roast pumpkin salad (RM20). Roasted pumpkin with rocket leaves, radicchio, croutons and parmesan shaving with remoulade dressing. This was everyone's favourite.
Onion rings (RM8) nicely deep fried and it was crispy.
Truffle Fries (RM8) - Golden fried doused in truffle oil, crispy on the skin and juicy in the inside.
Triple stack Burger (RM37) Three layers of 100g beef patties layered with cheddar, beef bacon, mushroom, sauteed onions, ketchup, mustard and a fried egg on top.
Italian Mozza Burger (RM35). Melted mozzarella, grilled peppers, smokey tomato sauce and basil pine nut pesto at the peak.
Japanese Yodel Burger (RM35) smothered with fondue sauce, sauteed mushrooms and topped with mushrooms tempura.
Donut Burger (RM29) is one of the October Specials. It is a homemade glazed donut with juicy beef patty, melted cheddar, beef bacon, tomatoes and lettuce served with fries and salad.
Waffle with ice cream.
Happy Birthday my son and may you have a wonderful life ahead.

Just a Fishy Affair at Fish & Co

After loafing a while in the mall we decided to have lunch. Fish & Co caught my attention with an impression of a healthy food with something of a fish dish and the crowd very promising. Back in my mind I thought it could not be wrong to eat here. So I decided to get into the shop.
The decor is simple yet interesting with a feeling of being somewhere near to a sea.
Soup of the Day was Fish Chowder and it was nice and tasty.
Fish & Chips - The best in Town. They have other versions such as Italian, New York, Sawadee, Swiss, Malaysian and Arctic.
I enjoyed this spicy Salmon Teriyaki with 2 side dishes of coleslaw and vegetable salad. The salmon was fresh and the spicy teriyaki ready made me feel satisfied.
I will be back for more seafood especially the platter ... just couldn't wait.
Your cutlery at your own service.
It's a nice and pleasant ambiance for a seafood affair.

Dave’s Bistro & Grill at 1 Utama for a Birthday Treat

The first time when I visited this place was with a group of cyclists and it was a late evening where we were allowed to bring our bicycles into the restaurant. Thank goodness there is ample space at the back of the restaurant. I knew if I bring my family here they will surely love it. It was Xiang's birthday and I decided to bring them there for a porky lunch.
Salmond Salad RM28 - A good and healthy start with a variety of green and a half boiled egg instead of a poached one ... yummy leh.
Roast Pork Belly Bar RM25 - With a glass of beer and it was a good kick start with this sinful but delicious "Siew Yuk".
Stuffed Button Mushroom RM24 - there is so many stuffs in the mushroom of course there is bacon in it, it's juicy and simply delicious.
Chicken Parmigiana RM58 - Xiang loves his cheesy food and this time it was something Italian...delizioso.
Roast Piglet (Half) RM118 - This western baby piglet delight is very much tastier and interesting to savour if you compare it with those in the Chinese restaurants. It was meatier and gorgeous. You should try it to believe it.
Beef Burgundy RM58 - a braised meat easy to bite and soothing to the taste buds. It could have been better with a glass of red wine instead of beer.
Nothing like a cool beer in a meaty indulgence.
