Tour of South Thailand III - Day 7 (18/04) Journey Back from Hatyai

Good Morning Hotel G2 Hatyai, breakfast was included in our package but we wanted some local Hatyai food beside a simple morning coffee.

Before we could venture into the food outside the hotel we had solved a small problem with Patric's bicycle.

It was a beautiful morning in the city as we rode on the streets and found our favourite pork porridge shop.

Definitely the breakfast was better than G2.

Another puncture occurred on the way back something was wrong with the rim after a service he had done at a shop. Patric has caused some anxiety making me to run errand for a spare tube....anyway it was another small trouble with good experience.

All properly packed and we were ready for the train to Kuala Lumpur.

It's kind of mandatory to stop at this boat noodle shop even though we were still full but we just had to eat it before we leave Hatyai.

I had a small bowl 20 baht and the taste was still awesome. How nice if I can have one now.

Time to fold our bikes, bag it and wait for the train.

Better to be early than late we have plenty of time so we loitered at the train station we tried to utilise as much as possible of our our data plan....what's more facebook lah.

It was 3 something in the afternoon and the train is ready for boarding. That's was all I had 2 panniers and the bagged folding bicycle, it was slightly heavier with some extra items added in.

Our bagged bikes have caused a bit of hindrance at the aisle but there was no issue at all it could be done.

My upper berth for a 12 hour cradling to KL most importantly I could sleep without any problem. As mentioned earlier the fare was RM54.00 and RM6.00 more for the lower berth.

Not only for sleeping we ate on the bed too. There is actually a canteen at the last coach but we had "tapau" some Thai economical rice for dinner and it was my last Thai meal of the trip...

I woke up early it seems everyone was still sleeping and I took a walk to the cafe with Patric for coffee. 

Sam & Michelle have always prefer the seat instead of the berth.

Before 6.30am I touched the ground of Kuala Lumpur old KTM Station while the rest ended the train ride at KL Sentral and I was ready to cycle back home.

I reached home at 9am after a detour to Titiwangsa for a breakfast and realised that my holiday has ended. I shall venture for more bike touring....who want to follow....hehehe. It was a great trip I want to thank Sam Cheong & Roger for their great efforts in planning this trip and also thank Michelle, Andrew & Patric for their great company.

Tour of South Thailand III - Day 6 (17/04) Songkhla to Hatyai

Our holiday was about to end, it's Day 6 in Songkhla. I was greeted in Japanese when we walked into this shop...I told him we are not Nihonjin but Malaysian-jin  and my "nihongo only sukoshi ne". 

He used to work in Japan many years back for 10 over years I guess he misses Japan. Anyway his chicken rice is "oishii ne'. Domo arigato gomase.

Michelle's rear tyre had to be fixed.

Meanwhile my tummy was not in the best condition and it had to be fixed too... Andrew accompanied me to hunt for a loo.

About 45 minutes later we regrouped at a market and had local coffee before we continued the journey.

Route 407 was the road we took for Hatyai from Songkhla.

A bit of mild climb on this route.

Now my bike is stable when she is stationery.

We are back for our favourite Siew Yuk.

We visited Bike Cafe Hatyai like we did during the last trip.

A short walk from G2 Hotel for a Hot Pot dinner.

The place for dinner and the same place we came on our last tour.

It was time to celebrate the completion of the tour with a distance of about 270km. Cheer to TOST III.

Day 6 - Taking a Train back to Kuala Lumpur from Hat Yai (Folding Bike Touring)

Good morning G2 Hat Yai!!! Our plan for the morning was to visit bicycle shops before we leave the town.

Nipping through the streets of Hat Yai with our wonderful folding bikes.

Our first stop ----- the great siu yok (roast pork) so much talk about it and at last I was there for it and thanks to my touring buddies for this recommendation.

How true it was heavenly delicious and we asked for more ...bearing in mind it was only our appetiser. Merely for a bite and more food places to visit...

We visited 4 bicycle shops in Hatyai this was the 2nd one. Hatyai Mountain Bike.

We spent some of our Thai bahts here for some accessories. This was the only kind of shopping we did in this folding bicycle touring.

The third one is situated above a coffee shop.

This shop sells gorgeous stuffs and bicycles. I love this shop the most and would want to come back again. I have to borrow money from friendly loan sharks for some stuffs that I could not resist.

Kuay Teow Renua - Thai Boat Noodle is associated with Central Thailand and used to be sold in small boats. I find it very tasty and enjoyed the soup so much that I virtually dried it up the entire bowl (actually 1 took 2 bowls hehehe).

The eating shop is located at this street Thanon Preedarom.

Small shop but serves great Thai Boat Noodle.

Here we were at the entrance of the Train Station of Hatyai.

Time to bag our folding bikes and head for home.

 

Hatyai Train Station is a bit unique you can see people living in the station itself.

Immigration checking at Padang Besar with a short wait before we continued our journey on our home land, Malaysia. Our folding bicycles were left in the coach we just needed to bring along our luggage for the necessary clearance with the Immigration & Custom.

Our bicycles in the bags placed at the corner of the coach, remember to book your seat at No.15 (the last row) where you can sit next to your stuff.

Home sweet home after 15 hours in the train and a final 18km ride back to the house from old KL Train Station including a detour to Tititwangsa for my Maran breakfast. What a great adventure and I shall do more....
