An Old Shop That Sells Wan Tan Mee in Kuala Lumpur 東莞仔

It is a story about this guy who came from Toong Kwoon Province South China to make some money in Malaya. It was back in the 30's where he started a stall near Majestic cinema at Pudu selling Wan Tan Mee. After years of business the Yap family moved into this building in 1954 and they are still going strong selling Toong Kwoon Chye's famous Wan Tan Mee.
The third generation is now running the show and definitely making Toong Kwoon Chye very happy indeed.
She must have been standing here for donkey's years and here, we have the young Yap (the fourth generation) in action. Well done young man for continuing the flag flying!
I salute to these ladies for their perseverance maintaining their Grandfather's legacy alive. Bravo!!!
It's all home made from the noodle to the skin of the dumplings (Wan Tan). I like their chewy noodle, next round I will try their Hakka braised pork & others. I shall return.
Here I was for a late lunch at Kedai Makanan Toong Kwong Chye with my bicycle neatly tucked underneath the table while I enjoy the delicious noodle. Of course with a cup of warm Kopi "O" kosong.
KL has many good Wan Tan Mee shops, Toong Kwoon Chye is one of the best 10 in town.

U Village (又一村) Hong Hong Restaurant @ Sg Wang Kuala Lumpur

A Sunday evening and a visit to Low Yat Plaza for some IT shopping but we have to take care of our stomach first before we get anything from the mall.

There are so many food outlets in this area and you just do not know what to to eat. Let's try this Hong Kong outlet called U Village (又一村).
Hot Lemon Tea RM3.50
Prawn Wanton Soup Noodle (RM7.90). The Hong Kong noodle is fine and chewy.

Yau Ma Tei Butter Chicken Rice: RM8.90

Chicken with Superior Chine Wine Rice

Low Yat Plaza is the mall to go if you are looking for IT stuffs, I remember LYP was struggling to pull IT retailers over from Imbi Plaza and now it is indisputable the biggest IT Mall of Malaysia.

Hakka Restaurant KL a Nice Place to Dine & Remember

This is the restaurant where we had our wedding dinner back in 1990, December 8 to be exact. The restaurant during that time was located at Jalan Bukit Bintang in an old & huge bungalow house.

Whenever I come back to this eating place, I will always remember 8 December 1990 it was such a memorable night in deed.

Mui Choy Kow Yok is a typical Hakka cuisine which is a braised pork belly with preserved veggie. This is one dish which you can see in most tables.

Kangkung Belacan – Morning Glory veggie stir fried with prawn paste. The strong aroma of belacan was interesting and the taste was simple and great.

Hakka Restaurant does serve simple home cooked food such as Hakka Yong Tau Foo, we had this fried Tofu stuffed with meat paste and it was gorgeous.

Pan fried Cod fish was deliciously tasty with nice flagrant. Everyone loves this.

A dish of Marmite deep fried pork rib ordered to supplement those meat lovers.

Hakka Restaurant serves very good Cantonese fried noodle.

I love this traditional Hakka Abacus beads it was succulent and cleverly fried with fine slices of mushroom and meat.

Yo! Sushi @ Pavillion KL

Having food in Pavillion Kuala Lumpur is quite fun, the atmosphere is always lively and exciting with so many people at the “makan level”, especially during the weekends and festive seasons.

Yo! Sushi is an international chain besides Pavillion, there is another one in The Gardens @ Mid Valley.

The service at Pavillion is not up to its expectation, could have been better with some minor improvement, Overall, it is still a place for such Japanese food. Yo! Sushi….neh.

Inari sushi – sweet pressed tofu held with a nori band & BBQ & glazed eel sushi with a nori band.

Firecracker rice – chicken - Spicy sushi rice with vegetables & Assorted sashimi (below expectation, the fish not so fresh, the meat was soft).

Firecracker rice – seafood with vegetables (good) & Unagi Kabayaki – grilled unagi with sweet brown sauce.

Beef Teriyaki - Grilled beef in a sweet, sticky soy based sauce & Prawn Katsu - Crispy fried prawns in Japanese bread crumbs, with a fruity sauce.

Edamame & Chicken Katsu - Crispy fried chicken in Japanese bread crumbs, with a fruity sauce.

Beef Yakitori - Char-grilled beef skewers with a soy-mirin glaze & Prawn Tempura.

Beef Ramen (very delicious, the soup tastes like prawn mee soup) & Chicken Teriyaki -Grilled chicken in a sweet, sticky soy based sauce.

Warm Sake – Ozeki Nomo Nomo Tokkuri and Ice Cream (green tea & sesame flavour) with Red Bean topping was smooth and delicious.
