Yong Peng Fish Ball, Melaka Raya

There was one day I went up to Melaka recently for an appointment with a client from JB where I took the chance to meet up a cyclist friend for a makan together before the appointment. Kong took me to this popular Fish Balls shop at Melaka Raya.
Apart from the usual noodles you can add on more ingredients to your noodle. I had a few pieces of Yong Tau Foo.
Looks like our Ringgit is shrinking so is the fish balls, one of us was taking dry mee while the other was savouring its curry noodle. Besides these there are also noodles like red wine mee sua and Fu Chew noodle.
I quite enjoy the curry taste with fish balls beside the usual cockles, bean sprouts and taupok. The curry is rich and delicious.

An Old Shop That Sells Wan Tan Mee in Kuala Lumpur 東莞仔

It is a story about this guy who came from Toong Kwoon Province South China to make some money in Malaya. It was back in the 30's where he started a stall near Majestic cinema at Pudu selling Wan Tan Mee. After years of business the Yap family moved into this building in 1954 and they are still going strong selling Toong Kwoon Chye's famous Wan Tan Mee.
The third generation is now running the show and definitely making Toong Kwoon Chye very happy indeed.
She must have been standing here for donkey's years and here, we have the young Yap (the fourth generation) in action. Well done young man for continuing the flag flying!
I salute to these ladies for their perseverance maintaining their Grandfather's legacy alive. Bravo!!!
It's all home made from the noodle to the skin of the dumplings (Wan Tan). I like their chewy noodle, next round I will try their Hakka braised pork & others. I shall return.
Here I was for a late lunch at Kedai Makanan Toong Kwong Chye with my bicycle neatly tucked underneath the table while I enjoy the delicious noodle. Of course with a cup of warm Kopi "O" kosong.
KL has many good Wan Tan Mee shops, Toong Kwoon Chye is one of the best 10 in town.

VM Boat Noodle at SS2 Petaling Jaya

Both my younger sons have tried it and came back home telling me how good it was. So the daddy brought them there again to check it out this time including the mummy.
It reminds me of the Hatyai boat noodle I had during a cycling trip back in 2014 and that the most delicious boat noodle I ever had.
The going was slow in the beginning but it started to pick up as the eating rolls on.
A dry version of VM boat noodle.
Rich soup with pork glass noodle that was rich and creamy.
Clear soup glass noodle.
I actually was here for this pork koay teow, literally I dried up the entire bowl. It was awesomely delicious and for RM6.50 it's a good deal indeed.
Poached Dory fish fillet with salad, I find the taste was rather flat.
Seafood noodle for RM8.90 with prawns, squids, fillet and clear soup.
Thai coconut milk dessert with strips of nangka (jack fruit).
The pricing.

An Evening at Jalan Ipoh for Hokkien Mee (Batu 5)

I don't know the name of this operator but it is facing the main road of Jalan Ipoh near Maybank on the fifth miles. It is located on an end lot not a building but sort of on a vavant land and it stretches to the end and across the back lane. During the day it a Bak Kut Teh stall by the name of Hing Kee.
Zu Yi wanted to try their Yip Kong Hor and not bad a taste of this fried koay teow.
Hokkien mee was sinfully delicious and it seems that this specialty is popular here.
Jo really enjoyed the fish head bihun and said that she will be back again for this lovely noodle. Though I do not like to take carnation milk but I do like this soup .
A combination of deep fried Sai Too fish cake and fried Foo Chok was so good that we ordered another portion of Foo Chok.
The sambal for the noodles was awesome (sorry forget to take a picture of it)

A Ride To Restoran Makanan Laut Kwai Lam at Kg. Subang 桂林海鲜餐馆

This is my first time cycling to Kg. Subang though I have tried the food at the neighbouring restaurant "Restoran Chong Fue Bak Kut Teh" nearly five years back. This time around I accompanied a group of cyclists all on folding bicycles to this part of the world for a dinner.
Eight sets for eight foldies who came all the way from Bandar Utama taking a journey of about 17 kilometres to reach the place.
There were two types of sauce given, sambal belacan on the right for noodles and the other sourish one for seafood.
Yut Kwong Hor (moonlight noodle) is actually a Hokkien fried rice noodle in dark sauce as similarly done for KL Hokkien Mee. We have a double moon here.
Stir fried sweet potato leaves simple yet tasty.
Lam Yee Pai Kut - Kwai Lam's deep fried fermented spare ribs with a right cut size and it was nicely fried into gorgeous pieces of delicious ribs. Please go slow with your bites it's hot from the wok.
I don't know why the fried Bihun was not popular among us but I think it was palatable, delicious and less oily... maybe it was because it has less oil in it.
This thick black fried Hokkien Mee was the most popular among those fried noodles on the table.
Salt baked tilapia was delicious.
I found that the grilled Tilapia fish has a better taste than the baked one, I like the burn aroma obviously the fish has been perfectly burnt from the grill.
It was a good outing with a good workout and a pacified indulgence of sinful dinner. We love it and will continue to do it for as long as our bodies can take it. Cheers to all the foldies cum foodies.

A Shack that Sells Awesome Noodles at Setapak, Kuala Lumpur

This shack is located along Jalan Perusahaan Ringan that sells tasty noodles with different type of noodles on different days and it's a crowd puller. Business only from 9.30 in the morning and closes on weekends.
I like this Lor Pan Mee and I like to add a strong dose of sambal chili into it which turned out to be so magnificent .... lau nua lioa .... By the way it only available on Friday.
Prawn Mee is available on Thursday, it's not to my liking and I would opt for the other option and that is the Dry Curry Chicken Noodle.
Assam Laksa to start off a fresh week and that is if you fancy it on a Monday. It is not that sour as you might think, I find it nice and tasty for a Monday morning. And I don't actually mind it breakfast which is absolutely a rare thing to do.
Dry Curry Chicken noodle on a Thursday and that is what I like for Thursday as far as this stall is concerned.
The ingredients for a dry noodle and you can find this everyday on the menu. Simple yet yummy.
The Kon Loh (dry) Koay Teow (rice noodle) that is served with the above soup with tau pok, fish balls and meat ball. And the dry noodle is topped with fried shallot and delicious minced meat.
The menu up in the shack for you to take note of the different noodles available on the various day of the week.
Nothing like a nice and sweet dessert of ginko, barley and bean curd sheet.
