One Day in Pulau Sapi Not too Far From the Coast of Kota Kinabalu

After our morning adventure to Kuo Man Restaurant at Sunny Garden and visiting the wet market at the waterfront we headed back to the hostel. Baki had a plan to bring us to the islands not too far from downtown Kota Kinabalu.
We took a slow stroll to Jesselton Point, ferry terminal where you could go as far as Labuan, Brunei and the many islands off the coast of KK waterfront.
There are several companies providing ferry services, we decided not to do any island hopping but just to visit only one island and that was Pulau Sapi.
The boat fee included life jacket and snorkeling gears. Here we were boarding into a boat to Pulau Sapi.
Though the weather was hot but with the boat travelling so fast we were enjoying the strong wind tearing our faces. By the way the boat has to be well balanced with right positioning of us by the boatman before he hits the throttle.
Pulau Sapi is one of the five islands that made up Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park with the others namely Gaya, Manukan, Sulug and Mamutik.
The ride took about 20 minutes and I was amazed by the clearness of the water for a spot so near the coast of Kota Kinabalu where you need not have to travel far to witness a crystal cleat sea water and enjoy water activities. The place is surely popular and crowded.
One for the album at Pulau Sapi, Sabah.
The spot we chose to laze and enjoy the afternoon at the beach side of Pulau Sapi.
It has a clean and beautiful beach and due to its closeness to KK it is always crowded, I reckon it will be fun if we were to visit this island during non peak season.
Our Chef Jason cooking seafood spaghetti for us. He can really cook and we were absolutely impressed by him.
Our wonderful and delicious dinner at the hostel. The wine went very well with the seafood.
Crabs cooked by Baki another great food on the table. We love it and it was definitely a better meal than Welcome Restaurant. What a lovely home cook food which we enjoyed it so much.

Melanian Pork Noodle 金沙园生肉面 at Kedai Kopi Melanian

One of our mornings in Kota Kinabalu somewhere near Borneo Backpackers Hostel we found Kedai Kopi Melanian that sells Sang Yuk Mien (pork noodle) and it is Sabah version for sure. There are three branches of Melanian Coffee Shop in Sabah, this one is at Jalan Pantai is the original shop.
Here we have a cheerful helper at the severy counter where you could see the many type of ingredients of a pig such as lean meat, liver, kidney and intestines
My corner my share of Melanian pork noodle, the soup is clear with Yong Tau Foo & braised chicken as side orders.
Jumbo meat balls another side order for the morning.
My younger friend has the luxury to have his with pork liver.
A mixture of meat balls, lean meat and veggies with super clear soup.
The carboh of the morning - kon loh kuay teow
Or you can have it with bihun also in dry version (kon loh).
The braised Hakka Tofu stuffed with minced meat with a piece of fish maw.
And the braised chicken feet to kill our curiosity.
My happy cycling friends having their meals with full satisfaction.

Fish Noodle at Kuo Man Resturant 国民茶室 at Kota Kinabalu

Six of us woke early and wanted to ride around KK hunting for interesting food, I suggested we cycle to look for Restoran Kuo Man for some fish noodle. After a couple of kilometres and traffic adventures in the city we found Kuo Man. The original shop was packed fortunately two doors away is an extension of Kuo Man.
We parked our bicycles in front of the shop while we enjoy the breakfast with ease.
A fresh fish fillet with clear soup, simple yet delicious.
And a dry version Kon Loh Koay Teow.
Jason was attracted by the sight of  a plate of fried fish eggs and so he ordered one.  It was delicious and rich.
Braised Hakka Tofu stuffed with fish paste is commonly seen in eatery shops in Sabah.
The chilli sauce that is a must with these nice food around.
Another popular shop that we managed to visit in this cycling trip.
The damage.
On our way back to the hostel we visited the wet market for some purchases. A plan to cook was laid out. The fishes are fresh and pricing is reasonable.
While our Chef was inside the market we were guarding our bikes and sharing with the locals about folding bicycles.
Jason and his purchases.

Welcome Seafood Restaurant 大茄来海鲜餐厅, Kota Kinabalu Sabah

Welcome! Welcome! A restaurant popularly and commonly visited by tourists and it is also popular among the locals who will come as early as six o'clock for dinner. It's located at Kompleks Asia City in Kota Kinabalu.
You will have to pick your choice of seafood for the kitchen to cook and also indicate as how you want them to be cooked. Unless you have decided what to eat if not you will be in a dilemma. There are so many choices to pick.
This restaurant has occupied a substantiate number of shop lots making them the anchor tenant of this commercial complex. Many types of shellfish at the aquariums (just like lobsters and mantis prawns) just pick and choose what you desire.

The pricing is reasonable and the food is fresh, delicious and it is a kind of one of those must visit things in Kota Kinabalu.
The happy cyclists after a good rest at Borneo Backpackers Hostel we rode to this restaurant.
I requested for sea cucumber at least I think it is of lesser sin besides the fish as I fear of any possible gout attack.
Fried seafood Tofu with mayonnaise topping.
Fried sotong fresh and succulent.
Fried seafood bihun.
Our clams were prepared in the soupy version it was nice and yummy.
Deep fried mantis fried.
The crabs for the night were fried with Kam Heong style and we were happily digging and enjoying this lovely dish.
The red snapper which was simply steamed with soy sauce yet it's so tasty and I like the freshness of this fish.
After 4 days of cycling and sea adventures we were looking forward for this dinner at the capital of Sabah. Have a good time here..
