Restoran Tien Tien Lai at Jalan Pudu 天天来饭店

Yes everyday comes to Tien Tien Lai Restaurant at Jalan Pudu. It is just annexed to the Post Office. The last time I came to this eatery probably 30 years ago.
Restoran Tien Tien Lai have been in existence for more than 40 over years and Jason remembered this place and its signature steamed egg dish. The kitchen is at the alley between the post office and a block of shops with a couple of small tables. We parked our bicycles here safe under watchful eyes of the operator as we went over two lots away for a bigger table for our dinner.
A complimentary chicken soup with old cucumber for a start.
Stir fried lotus root with button mushroom, carrot, baby corn and pea with topping of shredded dried cuttlefish. This was a good choice and very tasty.
Tofu with golden fried skin and a rounded base. The inside is smooth, it tasted good with the soy sauce and some spring onion topping. We had it without the minced meat on top and it was equally tasty.
This curry fish head was yummy we literally cleaned up the whole bowl shining. It came with lot of veggie in it and it was so appetising. It went so well with the plain white rice.
Stir fried Kangkong with garlic.
Signature dish of a steamed three yolk egg custard (蒸三黄蛋) a combination of egg, salted egg and century egg comes with a small bowl concoction of soy sauce, pepper and sesame seed oil. It was smoothly delicious we had 2 types on the table one with minced meat and one without. Both were good.
Salted steamed kampong chicken.
14 of us came with our folding bicycles for a meal at Restoran Tien Tien Lai and we enjoyed the dinner very much. Thumb up for Tien Tien Lai though we won't be coming everyday but we will surely come back again.

Heun Kee Claypot Chicken Rice 禤记瓦煲鸡饭

Welcome to Heun Kee Claypot Chicken Rice founded by Madam Heun May Lan since 1985 located at the end of Jalan Yew.
The clay pots are charcoal fired top and bottom, the top fire is on a metal lid which assist in an uniform cooking of the chicken meat and creating a stronger fragrant to the rice.
The many charcoal stoves flaming to cope with the ever crowded patrons, it is advised to call and order earlier to avoid any prolong waiting in the restaurant and alternatively you can call for a take away.
Fried Chicken wings might not look attractive but it is tasty and juicy, my wife and sons have vouched on it. My sons wanted more instead of 5 pieces only.
Thai fried Taufu with sauce and interesting topping on them. It is a kind of taufu bakar but not charred.
Poached lettuce simple yet delicious and crunchy.
Chicken preserved vegetable soup was Zuyi favourite and he suggested that he would like to have a bowl by himself the next time we come back.

The lady boss Madam Heun at the cashier counter, happily appreciating the success of her claypot chicken business.
Madam Heun's signature Claypot Chicken Rice 瓦锅鸡饭 is a must try dish among the many dishes in the restaurant. Just like a standard KL claypot it has the well marinated chicken, lap cheong (Chinese sausage) and a small piece of salted fish fillet. But Madam Heun does it differently the claypot is double fired top & bottom.
The menu found on the wall with a variety of choices to pick.
My family waiting patiently for their food and it ended up a happy evening with full satisfaction and endorsement.
Let's go and check this shop out and experience another marvelous food in Pudu.

Dim Sum at Restoran Pudu Cafe

It was the seventh day of Chinese New Year, Tuck Cheong was all sold out by 9.30am and the next place I could think of was Restoran Pudu Cafe at the wet market of Pudu.
Yes it still opened with plenty to eat, we managed to grab a table for three and enjoy a pot of Chinese tea with some dim sum.
Lo Mai Kai to share...
The Indonesian lady would be uttering "goreng goreng" dim sum as she moves around the shop with the food.
It was another nice old school dim sum in Kuala Lumpur and the few surviving ones in town.

Restoran Pudu Cafe might sounds western but is's an old school with mostly senior citizens in the shop.
A common sight of daily lives of seniors and how they spend their morning.
It's always packed with regulars and early birds in the wet market.

Steamed Chicken Rice at Restoran Tuck Cheong, Pudu

It was an interesting morning pedalling from one corner to another searching and deciding what to have for breakfast. There was a lot to offer in Pudu and I fell for Tuck Cheong for a reason.
It was this that I was back to Restoran Tuck Cheong I have missed it all the time whenever I am here and this time I got it. Something different found in a dim sum shop, a steamed chicken rice with slices of mushroom and lup cheong (Chinese sausage).
It is only available on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and in limited stocks...so come early on 2, 4 or 6 to avoid any disappointment.
An awful tea pot but unique and I reckon this is one of the characteristics of Tuck Cheong.

Pork Noodle at a Row of Stalls, Jalan Landak, Pudu

It was City Day celebration, a group of us went roaming in the city after a car free day event hosted by DBKL and decided to eat here at Celebrated Coffee House. It was also the third day of Chinese New Year.
I was craving for a good bowl of pork noodle and I had it at this stall outside Celebrated Coffee House. The pork noodle was gorgeous with an extra egg added in it.
Besides the delicious pork noodle sold here (with the availability of "spare parts" too) they also sell fish head noodle. Judging from the crowd this stall must be popular and obviously a good recommendation for pork noodle.
A view of the corner coffee shop at Jalan Landak, Pudu for a good choice of breakfast in Kuala Lumpur. My previous posting of this place.

Pudu Wai Sek Kai - Seafood Congee 米粥

The Glutton Street of Pudu, Kuala Lumpur @ Jalan Sayur, starts only in the evening.
This stall attracted me for a challenge of a bowl of porridge.
The vendors are elderly people, the skinny one stirring the congee to perfection while the rest were busy with their roles for another day of business.
I opted for a seafood porridge.
There were lala clams, prawns, crab sticks and fish fillet, the taste of the hot porridge was superb. As I patiently scooped layer by layer to enjoy the goodness of this RM4.50 porridge.
Seat for Congee 粥 customers.
It was a lovely cyclo-food hunt in Pudu.
As the sun sets, the crowd creeps in for a creation of an unique ambiance of a food paradise in Kuala Lumpur.
