Restoran Yi Xin Ge 一心阁 serves Excellent Bak Kut Teh at PJ People's Park

This is my favourite Bak Kut Teh shop I have been eating it since the days when they were in Section 14, Petaling Jaya back in the early 1980's, I don't see the Master here anymore looks like the young master has taken over the business. The young master also have grown older and wiser and he is the same guy back in Section 14 during those old days. Whatever it is, the Bak Kut Teh is still awesome.
I always enjoy the clear herbal soup and never fail to refill my bowl whenever I am there.
One of the many ready dishes to supplement your Bak Kut Teh feast.
This time we are going to try to cook it at home and apparently it's very simple. Just get of a pack of assorted herbs (RM15) for 4kg of pork ribs, slow boil it for one hour with 4 litres of water and a tea spoon of soy sauce.
The foreign workers at the shop are good and efficient with their services from the order to preparing the pre-cooked Bak Kut Teh. I shall be back even though the price is a bit costly.
At last a pot of home cooked Bak Kut Teh successfully prepared and also tasted as good as from Kelana Jaya.

Bak Kut Teh @ Restoran Yi Xin Ge 一心閣肉骨茶, Kelana Jaya

My favourite Bak Kut Teh joint with clearer soup and super tasty soup. Though I have blogged this place before here but I think it's worth to do it again.
Pork ribs that were tender and the taste was magnificient. As I typed this I salivated.....hehehe.
Another great portion of a pig called "Ka Wan" sinful but heavenly delicious.
Meaty and chunky "Siu Kut" for those who fear fats.
Another wonderful breakfast with my wife & father in-law @ Yi Xin Ge
Side orders of Yau Cha Koay, preserved veggie and poached Chinese cabbage were excellent supplement to this meaty meal. Of course I must have my garlic.

Yi Xin Ge Bak Kut Teh @ Kelana Jaya

This is the new sign board of Yi Xin Ge, my favourite Bak Kut Teh shop.
The old sign board & bye bye old board.
I have followed Yi Xin Ge from Section 14 during the 80's and I still like this wonderful Bak Kut Teh.
The soup is clear but superbly tasty.
No more Sai Kut so I opted for this Fah Kut
You can buy their BKT herbal pack and cook yourself.

Char Koay Teow @ SS5A, Kelana Jaya

My last visit to SS5A Kelana Jaya for a good venture of Char Koay Teow was on 4 January 2008 as posted HERE….

I have wanted to try the famous Aunty Gemok’s Char Kay Teow and it’s only today that I was able to do it. The Char Koay Teow here has been voted the Best Char Koay by FriedChillies (1st Annual Awards) recently.
I find that the CKT could have been better if fried a little bit drier. This dish is pork free, halal where there is no lard in it.

Rojak Buah – Malaysian fruit salad with a mixed combination of fruits in it such as cucumber, turnip, green mango, half ripe papaya and pineapple with thick and wonderful Rojak sauce and a topping of pounded peanuts. Very yummy.

Of course, nothing like a cold lime juice on a hot day.
At Restoran Jamal Mohamed you can find a variety of nice street foods of mixed Malaysian origins just like the Rojak Buah above and it’s indeed a smart move by the operator.

Restoran Yi Xin Ge Bak Kut Teh, Petaling Jaya

Yi Xin Ge used to be operating in Section 14 during the 80’s where Thank God is Friday (TGIF) is. The operator used to own that shop lot but due to certain reason it was sold off.

Since then, they have been in SS4 (People’s Park) for a long time and for a long time I have not visited until today with Shou Yi for a BKT breakfast. It was not as crowded as before, why? Is it due to the economic slowdown ? And now the shop is infested with foreign workers (that’s Malaysia current labour problem). As for direction to the shop, it is just facing LDP highway near Kelana Jaya LRT Station (you can get in from the highway).

The plain & clear soup is the characteristic of Yi Xin Ge’s BKT. I love soup that is clear & plain and most importantly it’s tasty….

Yeaw Cha Koay – a side order for Bak Kut Teh...
