Restoran Hao Yi Lou, Tapah - 好義樓飯店

Only after 4 attempts I managed to eat here, On 2 occasions it was closed and the third we were too late for anymore serving. It was crowded when we came though it still early and was able to grab a table for 12. The pricing is found to be very reasonable and way below our estimation.
Paku veggie fried with sambal belacan was good and tasty.
Braised pig tail with peas and groundnuts was another awesome choice.
Simple steamed la la clam with lots of spring onions topping was as good too.
Tapah produces lots of petai you can get them from the Orang Asli or the many traders found nearer to the town. And this serving of assam petai prawn was gorgeous even the the onions were delicious too.
Assam steamed Tilapia fish was tender and super delicious.
The only one dish that I stayed away that was this Sang Cheong, pig fallopian tube ... I just simply do not like it ...hahaha.
Kam Heong Wong Sin (eel) was the mother of all the dishes we had 2 plates when one was not enough. So this is definitely a must try dish not only in Hao Yi Lou but most of the restaurants in Tapah.
What a coincidence I met Hon Lim & his family it was also their first time at this restaurant, I hope they enjoyed the food too.
While waiting for your food to be served try the rojak buah nothing like in Penang but interesting and spicy enough to tickle you.
The kueh mueh was surprisingly good, do also give it a try.

Restoran Sing Seng Kee, Tapah formerly Restoran Tony

11 cyclists visited this eating house at Tapah, it was once known as Restoran Tonny and according to the new management Tonny has already made enough and has retired.
Paku Veggie stir fried with belacan was the first on the table and all was gone in no time. Truly it was no mercy from these cyclists.
Next came this delicious tofu coated with minced meat gravy.
My aim of visiting Tapah is beacause of this eel delicacy, I enjoy the crunchiness of this meat, love it very much!!!
Bright and lovely celery fried with dried shrimps, nuts and carrot, it was a good recommendation of the lady boss.
The most expensive dish on the table was this stir fried frog with ginger & spring onions..fabulously yummy and probably good nutrient for our cycling legs hehehe.
Braised pork belly with yam slices though it was a bit dry but yet yummy.
This dish seems to be the favourite, it must be the super duper gravy with lots of sinful lard.
Steamed patin fish - fresh and succulent, it was served with golden fried garlic topping. The meat was chunky and nice.
Braised pork trotter was a over kill for the lunch, white flag was raised and the going was slow nevertheless we managed to finished it...
All in all we over ate and driving back to Kuala Lumpur seems far. I had to take a stop for a nap in order to continue the journey... What a sumptuous lunch till then we will be back to Tapah for good food again.

Restoran Tonny @ Tapah for Eel Delicacy

As planned, we wanted to eat eel delicacy in Tapah and there are few shops that serve such food. Restoran Tonny is one of them located near and opposite side of the Police Station.
Braised pork belly with yam turned out to be a favourite among us.
The aroma of this pork rib was so distinguish & good and not forgetting the delicious bites of this meat dish. Thumb up for this one.
These two vegetables were yummy paku veggie and a stir fried sawi.

Steamed frogs with rice wine and soy sauce were not everybody liking but it was super duper yummy to some.
At last the chunky and succulent eel fried with dried chilli was the highlight. Onagi as the Japanese would called it. And Tapah provides one of the best and you must try it.
15 of us into two tables and everyone was happy with this visit.

Delicious Wan Tan Mee @ Tapah R & R North Bound North South Highway

Tapah R&R is one of the biggest rest points along North South Highway.

Let me introduce you a good Wan Tan Mee stall at Tapah R&R north bound of North South Highway. “Sizzling Wok” sells a variety of noodle and I was told to try the Wan Tan Mee.

For a small plate it costs only RM3.60 cheap and very good.
The tasty noodle was chewy and nice to bite.

What you are seeing here (the noodle) will not be what you will be getting when you order your Wan Tan Mee. Mine was a special plate. All I need to do was to utter a magic "password" to the lady owner when I ordered my noodle. That is why I got extra add-ons like bean sprouts & more wantan also for RM3.60……furthermore she personally prepared this wonderful noodle for me.

The wantan (dumplings) were gorgeous with sufficient meat in it.

Christmas Lunch at Tapah, Perak - Jolly Good

It was Christmas Day a group of eight went up north for a food trail. We gathered at Taman Tun Dr Ismail @ Yong Len Coffee Shop for breakfast around 10am and proceeded to Tapah for an eel delicacy. My “Loh Kum”, Tay Kok Leong led us to Zong Meng.

The highlight of this Christmas lunch was this eel dish fried with dried chili. The meat is firm and chewy not like those “Unagi” found in Japanese restaurants which are soft. Thumb up for this Tapah “wong sin”.

La clam was fresh & delicious, the aroma of ginger was so pleasant.

Deep fried Lemon grass chicken wings was everyone’s favourite too, it was gorgeous.

Paku veggie fried with belacan was crunchy with slight sappy taste but yummy.

Haruan fish fillet another Tapah popular dish but I prefer the eel.

Zong Meng’s Seafood Tofu cuisine. Pretty good.
This is the eating crew, satisfied and looking forward for the next destination.

The total damage for such a lovely lunch in Tapah was only RM84.00. We shall come again Zong Meng.
