Restoran Subang 2 Bak Kut Teh 梳邦2好味肉骨茶

The food hunt continues with our weekly bicycle ride and one of the nights we found ourselves in Subang 2 for a home cooked food and Bak Kut Teh encounter (recommended by Johnny). The food at Subang 2 Bak Kut Teh was awesome. Fatty, the boss was waiting and getting ready to prepare the food for us. It was a pre-ordered meal by Randy and the meal was treated by him. Thank you Randy for the wonderful dinner.
The minute we entered the shop Fatty instructed his staff to start the cooking, this was our Chinese wine free range chicken soup and we surely waited patiently.
A simple stir fried white cabbage with dried shrimps, a truly home cooked style dish.
The black Bak Kut Teh with bitter gourd hidden in it, it was obviously very sinful but the taste was magnificent, the gravy went super well with our rice.... more rice please.
Another simple dish, a fried egg omelette with chopped long beans just like what we used to eat at home. I just love egg dishes.... give me more.
Nam Yue deep fried pork belly would be lovely if we were to eat it with a glass of beer.
The highlight of the dinner was the super delicious Chinese wine chicken soup, would be great if we could have more of it .... now that I am drooling as I write this blog.
For the first time I see a dish of poached cut brinjal coated with gravy un-stirred. Fatty told us to stir ourselves before we eat it and it turned out be super delicious. Thumb up Madam Liew for such a great creation.
Gino had the honour to stir the brinjal's special.
Steamed Tilapia fish with finely blended black beans sauce was yummy.
You can reach for Fatty (Liew) for further more info. Have a good fun venturing in this corner of Subang 2.

Ming Xiang Bah Kut Teh Berkely Garden 茗香肉骨茶(巴生)

Ming Xiang Bak Kut Teh is located at Lorong Angsa in the vicinity of Berkeley Garden, a quiet corner from the busy centre at Berkeley Garden. It is a new BKT place offering traditional Klang spicy herbal meat soup that you ought to check it out..
Eating Bak Kut Teh in Klang is something common and many places in this town are not so generous with their soup but Ming Xiang Bak Kut Teh has no qualm of offering more soup at your request.
A pot of dried bak kut teh that is being cooked with additional ingredients like lady fingers, dried chilies and dry squids, it has a stronger taste.
One more bowl of "Kah Wan 猪脚弯 " before we leave the place, kah wan is the joint of the pig's leg that is fatty with soft tendon.
Most of us opted for yam rice in lieu of the plain white rice.
Thanks to our local friend Gan for introducing this place, the Bak Kut Teh is good it was not crowded and easy to get tables for our cycling buddies. Cheers Ming Xiang Bak Kut Teh, now that we know another good place for this Klang marvel.

Founder of Bak Kut Teh at Rangoon Road, Singapore

Two years back on the same road I ate at Ng Ah Sio Pork Ribs Soup Eating House, this time Siean Sin brought us to Founder Bak Kut Teh, a branch from Balestier Road. For a change I do not mind eating Singapore mild Bak Kut Teh in fact I like the pepperish clear BKT soup here.
It looked like we would not be taking any lunch for the day.
Founder Bak Kut Teh 发起人肉骨茶, the tender ribs that requires eating with your hand. Like I have said I enjoyed sipping this clear soup.
Braised Pig Trotter 卤猪脚
Tau Kee - the soy sauce bean sheet is rather longer than ours in KL soft but not that chewy.
Tau Pok is darkish in colour but it has more form and succulent if compared with our Kuala Lumpur type.
Tang O Soup 茼蒿汤
You-tiao (Fried dough fritters) 油条 was not as good as Kuala Lumpur.
This second outlet Founder Bak Kut Teh is managed by Mr. Chua's daughter and her grand daughter.
The legend of Founder Bak Kut Teh shall remain for a long while with the right people holding the fort at Rangoon Road. What a way to go!

Xan Ling at Sri Sinar, Kuala Lumpur

This is Xan Ling at Sri Sinar, a branch outlet from the main at Segambut / Jalan Kucing. Apparently this little corner has been here for more than a year and it is conducive with the comfort of air conditioning as compared to the one at Segambut.
Dishes are about the same as their main branch and we were there for a pre-ordered pork ribs porridge which requires a minimum of half and hour pre-order. So remember to call before you visit this place for this porridge.
Soya sauce pork belly to intensify our meaty and sinful lunch.
Deep fried Kampong fishes with the porridge was an excellent combination.
So was the stir fried purple colour cabbage that went very well with our porridge.
Some interesting choices of drink in the menu.
Call Mr. Tan Song Huat for dishes that require time to prepare like the pork rib porridge.
Xan Ling is a family business, the one at Segambut runs by the mother and daughter team whereas the father take care of Sri Sinar.

Restoran Yi Xin Ge 一心阁 serves Excellent Bak Kut Teh at PJ People's Park

This is my favourite Bak Kut Teh shop I have been eating it since the days when they were in Section 14, Petaling Jaya back in the early 1980's, I don't see the Master here anymore looks like the young master has taken over the business. The young master also have grown older and wiser and he is the same guy back in Section 14 during those old days. Whatever it is, the Bak Kut Teh is still awesome.
I always enjoy the clear herbal soup and never fail to refill my bowl whenever I am there.
One of the many ready dishes to supplement your Bak Kut Teh feast.
This time we are going to try to cook it at home and apparently it's very simple. Just get of a pack of assorted herbs (RM15) for 4kg of pork ribs, slow boil it for one hour with 4 litres of water and a tea spoon of soy sauce.
The foreign workers at the shop are good and efficient with their services from the order to preparing the pre-cooked Bak Kut Teh. I shall be back even though the price is a bit costly.
At last a pot of home cooked Bak Kut Teh successfully prepared and also tasted as good as from Kelana Jaya.

Restoran Beng Heong Bak Kut Teh, Jalan Teluk Pulai Klang 阿头海鲜肉骨茶

I was recommended to try Beng Heong, one of the eating places where the local Klang people would eat their Bak Kut Teh.
Seafood Bak Kut Teh is popular here, there are three shops found at this row of shophouses located at Jalan Teluk Pulai and Beng Heong seems to be the most popular. I heard that by 10am or so the food would be sold out. We were there at 9.30am so we were safe.
The boss preparing a pot of seafood Bak Kut Teh. From what I read he is a moody chap but he was very friendly with me we talked about cycling and told me he have a brother who do long haul riding... not bad afterall .
Though the BKT is delicious but I prefer to eat it in  KL....over in Klang you eat BKT on a plate with fork & spoon and sometime no garlic is served like here. Beng Heong only serves one version of BKT there is no such thing as dry version so don't bother to ask.
We actually rode 50 kilometers for this Bak Kut Teh in the name of healthy life style, well at least we workout first before we indulge in this sinful delicacy ...
Let's go for Yao Yao Ping...yes our next eating place....for famous blended ice.

Teluk Pulai Bak Kut Teh (直落玻璃肉骨茶)

At last I made my way to Teluk Pulai for a satisfying food adventure as I want to know if there is any different in taste from the other shop at Taman Intan.
By the time we reached this place the crowd was at its minimum I had a chance to shoot a few shots at the kitchen...
This was ours with chilli padi added .... and it was deliciously spicy.
A hot claypot of mixed Bak Kut Teh with ribs, fish fillet, fishballs, ka wan, intestine, mushroom, fuchuk etc etc.... very very yummy and not forgetting the nice plain rice with fried shallot topping...
A dry BKT version of a trotter it's spicy and tasty.
After 52km of cycling from home we finally found the original Bak Kut Teh in Klang ..... another place worth coming back.
