Siew Wah 60th Birthday Bash @ Restoran Best Palace, Kuala Lumpur

A night to mark Siew Wah 60th birthday with friends at a quiet hide out in Kuala Lumpur. Restoran Best Palace is tucked & secluded at a corner of an industrial area known as Taman Perindustrian KIP somewhere near the vicinity of Sri Damansara area.
The cheese cake was awesome and thanks to Cheng for contributing this wonderful cake for a wonderful occasion like this.
With these noisy and whiskey loving friends around in the restaurant, a quiet Best Palace has become lively. The food is nothing extravagant but merely a simple Chinese cuisine for a change. What was important is the friendship that we will cherish as much as we can.

We started off with some lovely bites which went well with our drinks and this was the calamari fried with salted eggs. The squids were juicy with appetising smell from the crisps.

Another type of bites before we go full force with the dinner. Home made Tofu.

Braised pork trotter with mixed vegetables and black moss (fatt choy) was fantastic the whole group of the makan crew just loved it.

Sweet soy sauce fried prawns were tremendously delicious, they were fresh, juicy and succulent ...... yummy yum yum.

Stir fried Kai Lan veggie was as good as the rest of the dishes on the table.

Leeks stir fried with roasted pork were nostalgic for me, my late dad's favourite dish and my mum would cook this for him every reunion dinners. It was a great recollection especially Chinese New Year is so close and I am not going back to Penang this year what a pity.

Steamed fish head (Soong Yee) with finely chopped ginger was spicy good and the strong aroma of ginger was so comforting.

On the table where the food was laid upon us for the celebration of a good friend's birthday. Happy Birthday to Siew Wah again.

Bitter gourd cooked with chicken was a last minute add-on dish, we like variety and we enjoy food.

Braised Pork belly (Tong Po Yuk) a dish not meant for us I just stole a snap for my blog. Looks good and I reckon it must be good we will try this next time.

This is the handsome birthday boy with Jan. They are a truly matching couple in deed.
Husband & wife were in great form and they had a lot to deliver and we were happy to listen.

The honorary members of the eating crew enjoying a good evening of friendship where whiskey is a common love and a universe language to us. Who is next in the list for a birthday bash?

Fish Ball Noodle @ Sri Damansara Kuala Lumpur

More than a year ago I posted this eating place, here I am again at this place with my colleague to sample more taste. And it has to be more than a year to come back, well KL has too many eating places to go and sometime you just do not know where to go. It was already near 2 o’clock in the afternoon and people should be back to work but the place is still packed with patrons. Well done Ah Niu for your survival in this neighbourhood and keep it up the good business.

I like to have a dry version of yellow noodle with dark soy sauce and a little bit of fine deep fried lard in it. And complete with a bowl of lovely & fresh fish balls plus fish maw for my meal.

Deep fried dumplings eaten with finely cut ginger & vinegar sauce.

Saito fish cake does not look so attractive at the outside but palatable when you sink it into your mouth. I normally see rectangular shape fish cake but this one is round.

The big menu on the wall unfortunately it is in Chinese if you do not read Chinese then just looks at the pictures with prices for your order.

KIP Seafood Noodle House @ Taman KIP Sri Damansara

A simple birthday dinner for Francis Yeoh @ KIP Seafood Noodle House, he is now 57 strong & healthy and I would like to wish him “HaPpY BiRthDaY” and many more years to come.

This is the place where we had our dinner @ Taman KIP, Sri Damansara, a good place. The proprietor, Mr. Lim or rather commonly known as Ah Lam does all the special dishes which he has acquired over the years overseas and is back venturing on his own food business.

Deep fried pork belly a good appetizer for a start.

This was a guessing game for those who do not know what this curry flavoured dish is. Some said it was clam! Actually, it was chicken feet padding! It really tasted like some kind of sea clam.
A signature dish of Ah Lam, Steamed fish head with kow yoke (home made braised pork belly). The pork belly was delicious and first to finished instead of the fish head.

Bitter gourd fried with roast pork a common dish but it was delicious.

This was a very gorgeous braised pork ribs and belly. The meat was as soft as those found in canned meat from China, but no it was prepared by Ah Lam.

Too much meat on the table as some of us have complained, so a plate of Chinese cabbage simply fried with seaweed and it was really yummy.

Chicken meat fried with black fungus, another lovely dish.

Another attractive creation by Ah Lam, stir fried brinjal with sweet potato leaves with big anchovies topping. Not only looks good it tastes as good..

Another veggie on the dining table, bitter gourd again but a simple stir fried with black fungus.
It was time for some carbohydrate, to fill up any more empty space in the stomach. This fried Beehoon was fantastic, in fact it is Ah Lam’s popular fried Beehoon.

Same kind of fried carbohydrate but this time it was rice.

This is one of the many good whiskies of the night.

Ah Niu Fish Ball Noodle @ Sri Damansara

This fish ball noodle shop looks pretty new from the outside the new sign board and the new paint work. It is situated at Sri Damansara at a road called Jalan Tembaga SD5/2A. It was 12 something in the afternoon and the shop was near full, I guess business here is always good and popular.

I could not try much except for a bowl of dry noodle comprising of yellow noodle (mee) and koay teow.
Of course the fish balls are not only springy but also fresh and tasty.
Thank you to Siew Wah for this recommendation. I will try their fish cake the next round. Happy hunting….

But we ordered other dishes to sample what Lam can offer:-

Steamed fish head with kow yoke (braised pork) something different.
Creamy big prawns.
Sea cucumber with veges.
All were delicious and satisfying. Will go for others in the future.
