RSC 30th Annual Golf Ball & Dinner

30th Annual Golf Ball & Dinner 2009 cum 125 Celebrations of Royal Selangor Club started off with a photography session for couples and members attending the function.

It was a night to mark the wonderful golf game we had in Sungai Long GCC and time to unwind and enjoy the evening. I was glad to achieve 9th position in the Nett Score and most surprisingly I was in a team emerging as winner for the Muhibbah Team Trophy.

Bak Kut Teh @ Big Trees, Jalan Ipoh K.L.

When you talk about Bak Kut Teh at Jalan Ipoh you probably talk about Ban Lee the one next to Dynasty Hotel. But there is this stall hidden under huge trees at Jalan Kangsar, Off Ipoh Road also sells good and delicious Bak Kut Teh.

I had a wonderful morning BKT under the big trees with my son. It has been a long time since I last visited this BKT stall.

A packet of chinese tea 'Tit Kun Yam' to start off.

This is one of the few BKT with 'kopi-O' (black) colour soup.

As usual it goes with the Yeaw Char Koay.

For a clay pot of BKT for 2 people plus 2 bowls of plain rice & a pack of Chinese tea damaging a total amount of RM22.00. We enjoyed this delicious BKT.

Pork Noodle @ Restoran New Seaview, Paramount Garden

I wanted to try the Char Siu at a shop opposite Restoran New Seaview but the Char Siu has all sold out, a bit too late. Hence, I went over to New Seaview to look for alternative.
Somehow, judging around the people in the coffee shop, there were quite a number of them eating Pork Noodles, I reckoned it must good and decided to order one.

I enjoyed the soup and it has a lot in it. It was tasty and a genuine flavour of minced pork. Simple dish yet very delicious.

A generous chunk of minced pork found hidden underneath the choy sum veggie and lean meat.

Delicious Korean BBQ Chicken @ Jusco AU2 Setiawangsa

The barbequed chickens from this fast food chain are delicious and easily available in Klang Valley. But this outlet in Jusco AU2 Setiawangsa is not doing well. Anyway the BBQ meat is really tasty.

Jerk BBQ – barbequed with charcoal fire done in Korean style and it is spicy and hot.

Korean Charbroiled Chicken – you either have with fried rice or French fries. I prefer this dish.
The atrractive Menu at the front of the shop.....

Relax my friend, food is coming just be patient….he likes the BBQ Chicken.

Haikou Cup Prize Presentation Dinner , Hainan Island China

On the third night, it was time to present and declare the winners of this Haikou Cup at the Prize Presentation dinner at Golden Coast Lawton Hotel @ 68 Renmin Avenue, Haikou, the Coconut Island of China.

Siew Wah showing off the momento of the Gross Winner of this Haikou Cup Game.

Pee Kiat enjoying himself in the dinner.

The dinner @ one of the hotel hall.

And these were prizes to be given out to the winners of the game.

The whiskey has to be finished before we leave the island.

These were the dishes provided for us and for the winners of Haikou Cup to celebrate and remember the wonderful experience of golf in Haikou City. The food was something like home cooked food. What a shame! It was either a case of low budget or some other factors unknown to us. My kitchen at home can easily come up with such dishes…

Braised pig intestine, pork belly, tongue egg and tofu, it seems that we have been eating this dish quite often in this island in the last 3 days,

Brinjals also seems to be a common sight on the dining table, must be a popular dish in Hainan Island. Interesting way of cooking and it is delicious.

Sweet & sour fish fillet, nothing to shout about... pass.

Chicken cooked with mushroom, carrot and chinese wine, a common dish seen in the homes of Malaysian Chinese and we have it here in a hotel in Haikou City.

Fried small prawns......

Long beans stir fried with Lup Cheong (Chinese saugage).

Chinese cabbage with minced pork meat soup.

Doesn't it all look like home cooked food? Well that was thr Grand Dinner.....

My buddies were all disappointed and immediately after this dinner we went to a restaurant to savour for more authentic local cuisine and it was at Man Fu Long Restaurant.

Unfortunately I did not take any picture of the great dishes we had in Man Fu Long. A night at 2 restaurants for 2 dinners, some even had supper before calling it a night.

Anyway, we have to leave Haikou City for home the following morning and has to say goodbye. Hopefully one day I shall return to see more of the Sunny Island.

沈 Sim Clan Ancestral Hall, a place where I used to visit and stay in Penang during 70's. Today the place has been face lifted. Bravo....
