Haikou Golf Cup @ Hainan Island 海南, China - Day 1

Our golf journey to China finally came as planned, to Haikou City 海口 of Hainan Island 海南 for a golf tournament (Haikou Cup) organized jointly by local Tour Agencies & Haikou Tourism Board. This trip cost us approximately RM1,800 each for a 4 Days 3 Nights break inclusive of 3 breakfasts and 3 dinners.

Besides equipping ourselves with golf clubs and balls, we have to equip ourselves with a bottle of whiskey each for the trip.

This must a scary experience for Wei Teck as he was identified by a Health Officer at the airport as a possible victim of AH1N1 from the Thermal Scan and was asked to be observed by another Health Officer fully in white protective suit in a separate room. After a couple of minutes of checking he was cleared, his temperature was alright and allowed to enter China. Welcome to China.

Due to a delay of 1 hrs 45 mins by Air Asia. We have to skip our lunch and head for Hainan Dongshan Golf Club, a 6,995-yd golf course designed by our own Malaysian Mr. C J Tan.

We were lucky to finish the 18 holes in time before dark.

A scenic golf course with lots of rubber trees and coconuts trees.

Complimentary Hainanese coconut - each for everyone of us.

Jan & Siew Wah really to tee off....

Danny Chan executing a perfect tee off at the Tee Box.

And Koh Pee Kiat in a sand trouble......
