Steamboat Gathering @ Home

We had a wonderful gathering at home with families from my in laws side and Ung’s. My mother has earlier in the morning visited Section 17 market for her new adventure in this distant market and she enjoyed marketing and was gamed for a meal of Steamboat. There were roast ducks from BBQ Restaurant Ipoh Road and the famous one from Paramount, Loong Foong Seafood Restaurant, I guess Loong Foong won the battle, it tasted better than the one from Ipoh Road. And also the colourful sushi.
Besides the food, there were free flow of spirits such as Gin, wines and beer. The house was filled with people at every corner of the house. Mahjong session was fired up after a round of the steamboat feast. I was glad to see Tay Khek Yang back from South Africa for a short break, good for him and he needs it. Everyone enjoyed the night, especially Jo. The food, the laughter the conversation and the noise make the house very lively “Lau Juak”. The party ended around 48minutes past midnight and everyone had to go back home. DUKE highway was waiting from them for a safe drive home….

Char Koay Teow @ SS5A, Kelana Jaya

My last visit to SS5A Kelana Jaya for a good venture of Char Koay Teow was on 4 January 2008 as posted HERE….

I have wanted to try the famous Aunty Gemok’s Char Kay Teow and it’s only today that I was able to do it. The Char Koay Teow here has been voted the Best Char Koay by FriedChillies (1st Annual Awards) recently.
I find that the CKT could have been better if fried a little bit drier. This dish is pork free, halal where there is no lard in it.

Rojak Buah – Malaysian fruit salad with a mixed combination of fruits in it such as cucumber, turnip, green mango, half ripe papaya and pineapple with thick and wonderful Rojak sauce and a topping of pounded peanuts. Very yummy.

Of course, nothing like a cold lime juice on a hot day.

At Restoran Jamal Mohamed you can find a variety of nice street foods of mixed Malaysian origins just like the Rojak Buah above and it’s indeed a smart move by the operator.

Penang Curry Mee @ SS2/10 Petaling Jaya - Update

If you are craving for an authentic Penang Curry Mee and if you are not happy with the SS2's Lorong Seratus Tahun Curry Mee then I would recommend you this one.

Please go there earlier to avoid any disappointment, usually it finishes business before noon.

Muar Bak Kut Teh Opposite St Andrew Catholic Church

Piling work has commenced on site at our Bakri Muar project. The photo shows a preparation of load test of a driven pile.

Once the piling works are completed which is anticipated within a month time and thereafter we could see more activities happening on the site.

This Shop “Kh ng Kee Restoran” is just located opposite St Andrew Catholic Church (next to Bomba Station)

Mixed Bak Kut Teh in a clay pot which comes with pork meat balls, soya sticks, small pork intestines, distinguished pork liver, mushroom, pork belly, pork ribs and pork stomach.

It is a norm here @ Muar when it comes to BKT serving, you will find Yau Cha Koay and Yam rice. An average rating for this BKT, nothing to shout about.

Medication for High Blood Pressure

Tonight at 10.00pm I started the infamous pill for my HIGH blood pressure, Dr. Krishnan took the reading and it was 163/93 and advised me to start taking medication if not I could be cheating my "sweet" heart. Two weeks back, a Dr. Ong has already advised me to do so (@ my annual medical check up) but I was trying again my luck to prolong it. The last 8 years I have been monitoring the situation (with this equipment, looks like it needs re-calibration) but my situation can not be improved as my life style has not change much to sustain the condition. Therefore I have no choice but to start the medication.

20 tablets of Tenormin (50mg) were given to me as prescribed by Dr. Krishnan and I will see him in the next 20 days.

I hope I will be alright with this Ternomin thing….

It was time to take the boys for dinner and we conveniently opted for Restoran Ken Loong as there was a nice car park in front of the shop as we arrived at Taman Sri Rampai, Setapak.

Koo Loo Yoke – RM12

Tik Pan Tofu (Hot plate Tofu) – RM10.00

The Lady recommended Hong Siew Yee Tau (Fish Head). The half piece of fish head was not that fresh fortunately it was deep fried. RM48.00.

Steamed Village Chicken with Kailan – RM25.00 for half a bird.

The youngest boy seems to be enjoying his meal while I was thinking of Dr. Krishnan.

Jeremy Wong Chee Kok, Another Found Classmate

Jeremy Wong Chee Kok, a friend I must first apologise to him for not remembering him as my classmate during our Tunku Abdul Rahman College days reading Building Technology (1978 – 1981). He was the quiet one always at the front row and I was the noisy one always at the back row of the class… that is why we were distanced and further distanced as he migrated to Melbourne, Australia for the last 20 years.

Somehow we were able to communicate again recently after he left some comments in this blog. What a great way to rekindle the friendship. Please visit his blog here and it's good to hear from you again, Wong Chee Kok.
