Siew Yuk at Huang Kee Chicken Rice, Hong Seng Coffee Shop, Sec 17 PJ

The queue was long at the chicken rice stall when we arrived at Hong Seng Coffee Shop at Section 17, Petaling Jaya. The time was about 1.00pm on a Sunday afternoon and there was no sign of Siew Yuk anymore at the stall. We told ourselves we will do with only fried chicken and will be fine if the roast pork have already been sold out though we were disappointed.

Brian and Jason who were at the queue persistently negotiated with the main man for Siew Yuk. Both of them managed to get him to pull out a slab of the magical meat from the underneath the counter. Well done boys I had the chance to taste the famous roast pork. The skin really crackled and the meat was tender and delicious.

The fried chicken was equally gorgeous with crispy sheet of skin that just seems like loosely covering on the juicy meat. 

The business was so good that we have to serve ourselves with the food, at the time while we were enjoying the food, the lady boss hung out a "Close" sign at the stall. That is one chicken rice stall that is so popular and it is worth the while to wait for the food. Check it out and have fun eating the Siew Yuk.

Beside the popular char siew, you can get poached chicken or fried chicken.

The famous Char Siew BBQ pork belly that is sweet, sticky and delicious. One must not miss if you are in this shop. Well done for it's good quality and and maintaining over the years. 

Crunchy bean sprouts to go with the meal.

At this time of hard economy this bill would probably be a bit heavy but considering it as a once in a blue moon affair then it's worth the while.

The place is ever crowded with mouths seeking for delicious food. The first time I tried this Meng Kee Char Siew was at a different shop back in 2008 but it was still on the same road. They surely have expanded in a big way in Glenmarie.

A Detour to Restoran Rasa Sayang Chicken Rice 沙洋鸡饭, Ipoh

It was a Monday lunch time and was on my way back to Kuala Lumpur. The shop at Restoran Nasi Ayam Pak Kong was fully packed and I had to choose next door Rasa Sayang Chicken Rice. It's pork free!

Just a simple lunch with a plate of Hainanese Chicken rice with poached chicken drum stick and a roasted "spare part special". I like the tasty soup too. The ginger & chilli sauce were superb.

The "spare part special" is actually internal organs of the chicken meticulously wrapped  with the fowl's intestine. I have not eaten such sinful delicacy for a long time and it was surely a wonderful indulgence. 

Rasa Sayang is a clean and spacious eating house and mostly the patrons were locals. I like the food, the place and don't mind coming back again.

Kedai Kopi & Makanan Mooi Mooi - Char Siew

I wanted to bring Yong Lim for a Prawn Noodle at Rukun Road 4 but it was not opened hence the closest and talk about eatery place is Mooi Mooi's Char Siew.

I reckoned my last visit to this shop would be 2 to 3 years back and when I was first introduced to this place I was impressed the way my friend put it......the char siew can actually melt in your mouth and that's the kind of deliciousness he was referring to.

Today I added an extra meat .... a poached chicken drum stick.

Well, the meltiness isn't there anymore it's just like an ordinary char siew easily available in the city. What has happened to it!!!!

I would prefer the roasted meat in lieu of the Char Siew, anything crispy and aromatic can easily aroused me.....
