A Step towards an Eco Friendly World

From today onwards I will try to be more eco friendly towards saving the world from using non recyclable materials such as plastic bags and polystyrene boxes. I have invested these Tiffin sets for my weekends “Ta Pau” chore.
No more (or less) usage of plastic bags.
Let save the World together.

Fish Ball Noodles @ Loke Yew Road, Kuala Lumpur

A fish ball noodle shop located at Loke Yew Road near the Federal Bakery roundabout by the name of Restoran Huat Kee Fishball Mee which specializes only in fishball noodles.
Parking your car could be a problem here, you have to solve the problem first before you can savour the fish ball here.

A bowl of yummy and smooth dry koay teow (kon loh style) with bean sprouts and a little bit of lard on it. The “Sai Toh” fish balls and fish cake (additional order) were fished out from separate bowl for photography purposes.
The prices here are slightly high side.....

Bak Chang (Duan Wu Jie) - Rice Dumpling

There is a story behind this festival of making the “Bak Chang” Rice Dumpling but as far as I am concerned I know I get to eat my good old neighbour “Bak Chang”.
Yesterday, I noticed at my neighbour’s kitchen that there was something cooking up for this festival, there were bamboo leaves ready for the wrapping of the “Chang”.
Today, as expected I has the chance to try it one more time.
A dumpling of this one is good enough for your breakfast where you can find chest nut, peanut, mushroom, pork meat and salted egg yolk in it.

Fortunately it is a yearly affair, just can not imagine if we were to eat it everyday…

Chicken Hot Pot from China in Kepong - Update

A franchised food chain from China, you can visit its website at http://www.chickenhotpot.com/ and to actually taste this hot stuff, you can try at Jalan Metro Perdana Barat 2, Kepong, Kuala Lumpur.
The word Hot Pot refers as Chilli Hot……

This is the beef Hot Pot......

And this is the Chicken Hot Pot.........

It was really chilli hot (supposed to be mild), yet I had it with chilli padi.
A good experience for those who do not mind the "pedas" Hot adventure.

Restoran Penang Nibong Tebal Seafood Porridge - Revisit

There are many eatery shops in Kepong area and so many good foods to try. My friend has picked Restoran Penang Nibong Tebal Seafood Porridge for the day and armed with a bottle of Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban.
We have to forget their porridge (nothing soupy) as it does not go well with the whiskey.

We started off with this delicious and succulent baby octopus.

A light carbohydrate dish of a fried Beehun noodle with crabs.

Deep fried Ikan Kembong (Mackerel)

Crispy and juicy deep fried prawns another wonderful seafood.

As a Teochew, I remember when we used to take plain porridge with this dish. Sliced onion, chilli padi (small green chilli) and dry shrimps with a squeeze of lime. Great stuff yet simple to prepare.
My previous posting of this place can be viewed here.
