Qeow Yee Hokkien Mee @ Semarak Api, Farlim, Air Itam

We came visited this place just before the Chinese New Year break and we were back again on the second day of the New Year as my boys and Jo really love their Hokkien Mee (prawn noodle). Farlim has been a place popular for Hokkien Mee.
This place is apparently a branch of the wooden house at Paya Terubong as blogged in my previous post here.
This is our all time favourite noodle whenever we are back to Penang and we found that this place do serve delicious and quality Hokkien Mee. We will sure come back again.
Pork Knuckle Noodle (Tu Kar Mee), it is claimed by the lady that this is the only place you can find such noodle in Penang. It is kind of Penang Loh Mee but spicy.
Chicken Noodle another special noodle created which is also a version of a spicy Loh Mee.
The menu found in front of the semi detached house, by the way do try their dessert it is delicious too.

Dragon Phoenix Seafood @ Genting Cafe, Farlim, Penang.

It was time to go back to Penang with my family on a Chinese New Year break together with my mum & sister we visited Dragon Phoenix Seafood at Kedai Makanan Dan Minuman Genting, Farlim. This was my second visit to this eatery and I quite like the food here.
Curry grouper fish was very appetising, the fish was fresh and I enjoyed it very much and finished my plain rice in a pretty fast manner mostly on this dish itself.
Fried Kangkong (water spinach) Belacan was tasty with a good crunchiness from it.
Normally we would order our favourite belacan fried chicken but this time around we opted for another version of fried chicken marinated with fermented bean curd and it tasted as equally awesome.
Clay pot fried Tofu coated with minced meat gravy making it delicious and a favourite among my boys.
Kind of sweet and sour pork ribs a dish where the grandma has her way to pamper her grandsons. They simply love this meat.
Special fried wantan dumpling to usher the coming Chinese New Year celebration, it was yummy, juicy in the inside and a super crispy skin. Indeed a good choice.
Well everything here is good and the pricing is also very reasonable. Thumb up to Dragon Phoenix Seafood.

Travelling to Penang by Way of a Bus & Bicycles

For once I decided not to drive back to Penang but instead we boarded a coach together with our bicycles. We cycled from home to Corus Hotel, Jalan Ampang to catch the bus and little did we know that we have to pay additional charges for the bicycles. It was RM20.00 for a bicycle. If I were to have bagged the bikes I could probably have save the additional charges. A lesson learned indeed.
On the hindsight our bikes were placed at the lounge at the lower deck of the coach.
We reached Queensbay Mall about 1pm the bicycle lane is just situated less than 200 metres from the shopping mall, immediately we set up our bikes and proceeded with our ride back to mum's place.
We have rode at this bicycle lane before and we quite like it with its heavy landscaping and canopying trees despite it was a hot day.
The beautiful sight of Penang Bridge from the underneath of it.
We noted the State has rectified some of the obstructions which we encountered previously.
The bridge over Sg. Pinang as usual standing proudly and welcoming us to Georgetown.
We were hungry and decided to eat at these stall behind Gama Departmental Store (Jalan Trang).
A fried Char Kuay Teow & Prawn Mee (or known as Hokkien Mee in Penang). After the makan, I decided to aviod using Jalan Dato Keramat to Farlim as Jo might be frighten by the traffic.
We found our way to Jalan Sg. Pinang via Jalan Sungai into Jalan Perak and out to the main road via Jalan Lim Lean Teng. Immediately crossing the intersection we turn into Jalan Grove after the State Mosque for Lorong Batu Lancang and finally Thean Tiek Expressway with a climb at Farlim. Well done Jo, you have done it!
The journey from Queensbay Mall to Farlim was about 22km. Click at the link for details of the route we took.
Tomorrow will be another interesting day cycling and food hunting at downtown Georgetown.

Hokkien Mee (Prawn Mee) at Farlim Air Itam

I am back to Farlim for a good Penang Hokkien Mee in Kuala Lumpur it's called Prawn Mee this time around  it was 12 of us on a northern food trail.
My previous posting of this Hokkien Mee can be seen here.
There are interesting extra add-ons that you can pick for your noodle such pig intestines, braised pork ribs, cuttlefish, fishballs and roast pork.
A standard bowl with braised spare rib added on.
Loh Cham Hokkien Mee - a combined flavour of prawn mee and Penang Loh Mee, even the sauce is a combination chilli and garlic.
We actually wanted to just sample the taste by sharing but ended up taking a bowl each...it was definitely worth the challenge after savouring so much food ... hehehe.

2 Nice Prawn Mee (Hokkien Mee) in the area of Farlim, Penang

During my recent trip back home to Penang, I had the opportunity to eat two wonderful prawn mee also known as Hokkien Mee in Penang. One at Farlim,  & the other at Jalan Paya Terubong both in the vicinity of Air Itam.

My First Prawn Mee
This one looks relatively a new stall located at Jalan Semarak Api and near Shell petrol station, GPS : 5.387599,100.284327. I reckon it only opens during the evenings.
I requested for extra braised pork ribs.
The taste was gorgeous especially with the superb blend of its chilli sauce, olala.
Housed in front of a walk up apartment with a nicely turfed side lane where eating tables are found.
My Second Prawn Mee
The second helping was at a wooden house sited slightly off road of Jalan Paya Terubong (opposite Sapphire Apartments) not too far from Kuta Bali Food Court. It opens very early in the morning and I had it before going for my cycling event at Fettes Parks. If you need the coordinates of this stall i.e. GPS :5.391943,100.275516
I have been to this stall a couple of time and always enjoy it every time particularly for a good breakfast.
This serving has extra ingredient of braised small intestine and as usual I like to add pork ribs onto my noodle. Heavenly good leh.....
This was how good this bowl of Hokkien Mee. Ho Jiak!!!
