Prawn Noodle at Yew Hin 友興家乡虾面, Dengkil

The few original timber shops along the main roads of Dengkil town which has slowly transformed into a modern town neighbouring Putrajaya and Cyberjaya, food business has been flourishing very well catering the office workers and also weekend visitors. Kedai Makanan Yew Hin is just two doors away from the other popular restaurant called Kedai Makanan Sinki.
So this is how it looks like for a Yew Hin Prawn Mee kind of Loh Mee version, they also serve fried prawn mee and prawn soup mee. Noodles are handmade and the gravy is really tasty and rich which was beyond my expectation. Maybe next time I will try the fried version. Be warn it's pricey, avoid it if you are on a budget meal if not you will walk out of the shop very unhappy.
Minced meat rolls which did not impress me at all probably I was on a frequency for something like a Penang Lobak.
Chilli fried fish can be seemed on most tables spicy and tasty though the fish might be over fried. I think it is best eaten with plain rice.

Surprisingly the morning crowd was good, better than its competitor, Sinki.

Paya Indah Wetlands from Putrajaya

It was a public holiday, Prophet Mohammed's Birthday and I was itching for a bicycle ride. I found out that Irene Cho was going to roam around Putrajaya to clock for 50km so I went along for the fun.
I decided to take my Boston Montague for the exploration and I wanted to see the hippo & crocs.
The Adventurers of the Day.
We parked our cars near Alaf Baru Monument and started the journey about 8 plus in the morning, the weather was excellent throughout the journey.
From Putrajaya we reached our first destination for breakfast at Dengkil at a Mamak shop for some roti canai.
Here we were at Paya Indah Wetlands our Malaysian eco-tourism park which is about 50km from Kuala Lumpur.
Welcome to Paya Indah Wetlands, my last visit here was many years back when the place was a total let down. I could now smell revival of the wetlands with nicely maintained landscape and proper staffing as we moved into the park.
Irene, the organiser registering the group adding number to the record of visitors to this place. It definitely needs publicity many are still not aware of this wetlands.
A stop at the reception counter for some photo taking.
Sketches seen at the reception counter of the Wetlands.
Rennie and a colourful peacock and I learnt that this is a male peacock that had to be beautiful in order to attract the opposite sex.
Elegant views from the rear and side of this handsome peacock.
There are 3 hippopotamus in this wetlands a mother which is this one, a father and a baby hippo (both of them were at the pond when we were there).
While waiting for the caretaker to feed her, she was eating some green vegetation.
Let's selfie but please don't harm me ....
Feeding time is 10am, and for your information hippopotamus is a herbivorous animal.
These are the food for the hippo.
While waiting for the feeding of crocodiles at 11am, we met this cool monkey and it's a vervet monkey found mainly in South Africa.
He is not afraid of people and doesn't mind we taking pictures of him so long as we do not frighten him.
Distinctly with a black face and white fringe of hair.
Finally it's feeding time for the crocodiles at another side of the wetlands.
Chicken was the food for the crocs sometime they feed on goats or cows and apparently a day before they had already eaten goats. Hence they weren't that hungry anymore nthey still eat but not that active like normal.
These crocodiles here are one of the largest and fiercest aquatic reptiles in the world.
They look lazy but dangerous ... don't you ever try going near them...
That's was it and time to go back. Thanks to Irene for leading us to this wonderful park away from the hustle & bustle of city life.
On the way back to Putrajaya we stopped by at Dengkil for our feeding time .... it was a quack quack lunch at Serdang Duck King.
One of the much talk about roast duck in Dengkil.
Just before turning off into Putrajaya we stopped for cendol dessert. The original Borhan Cendol Durian at Kuala Selangor is still the best.
Safely we reached Putrajaya & back home.
This was the route we took from Putrajaya to Paya Indah Wetlands & back to Putrajaya approximately a 40km journey. Route was tracked by Kook Keong and special thanks to him.

Dengkil Roast Duck by Serdang Duck Ong

Restoran Serdang Duck Ong is known for their duck delicacy found in a newly developed commercial area of Dengkil and without any hesitation we went for it.
Besides roast duck, there are also roast pork, char siew and roast chicken for you to choose.
The signature roast duck is delicious with crispy skin, juicy & tender meat. Don't miss it if you happened be it in Dengkil.
Some like it with wan ton mee (noodle).
... and some who fear red meat can opt for Char Siew and roast pork. This was served with oiled rice.
We got a free dish of poached lettuce a table each. Thank you Serdang Duck King.
It was after a ride to Paya Indah Wetlands we stopped at Dengkil for a quack quack lunch before we head back to Putrajaya.

Kedai Makanan SINKI @ Dengkil

It has been a while since I last visited Sinki, I used to patron it during the time when we were executing building contacts in Putrajaya and Dengkil is one of the few places closest to Putrajaya where we can eat non-halal food.
After a good ride at Putrajaya lakeside a few of us were gamed for a good lunch at Dengkil and I was glad that the group decided this eating house because I like the food here.

The signature fried fish coated with chill sauce gravy must try leh....
Wow!!! big fresh water prawns so enticing, fresh and tender.
RM148.00 for these 7 prawns....good but costly...once in a blue moon it's okay and for a good experience and a marvellous taste of big prawns.
Steamed Jelly chicken
I like this Paku veggie stir fired with belacan crunchy and not sappy at all. Lovely.
In deed it was a good lunch and a word of advice if you do want to pay too much for the meal then avoid ordering prawns.
This 70+ years old uncle has been selling these pau for more than 20 over years.
Some of us went over to the next shop next door and bought some "pau" back. Someone told me that the original pau maker is actually somewhere opposite this place, I have yet to confirm this.
