Restoran Apa Khabar 老北村家煲仔堂, Kepong Baru

Apa Khabar a new kid in town? Well, this restaurant is relatively new nearly 4 months old. It was nice to meet up golfing friends for a lunch with Jan, Seiw Wah & Jimmy. Kepong Baru is pretty small and finding the place was easy.
Stir fried lotus root, french bean and petai with sambal belacan served in claypot. By the way all dishes here are served with claypot or plates.
Another veggie, kangkung stir fried with small dried shrimp, crunchy and tasty.
Steamed egg with three pieces of black organic tofu on top of the smooth and soft egg.
Steamed Tilapia with lots of crushed garlic& Chinese wine served in claypot, I simply love the gravy or rather the soup. Next round I would love to try a patin fish instead of tilapia. I am rating this as the best dish on this table.
Braised pork knuckle sinfully presented for our savoury. Though it was heavy for a lunch but the taste was right and delicious.
Steamed mantou buns to go the the braised knuckle.
Jan must be a regular customer, she got a complimentary steamed minced meat just like what we have it at home.
The owner/chef is a man full of tattoos and a man who takes part in Chinese food competition.

Restoran Yuan Kee 源記海鮮飯店 at Kepong for a Tai Chow

They have shifted from Jalan Ambong Kiri to a new premises nearby (maybe 200 metres away). Well it was was crowded when me and my colleague reached the place as it was lunch hour. My old buddies from college were already there waiting for us.
Braised pork ribs with ground nuts was awesome, the meat and the nuts were well cooked to a perfect softness and most of all the taste was delicious.
Stir fried Choy Sum with finely chopped garlic, a simple choice of green veggie and a wonderful crunchy time with the Choy Sum.
Plentiful of finely blended ginger on a steamed Tilapia fish, the flesh tender, sweet and at time spicy.
Steamed three coloured eggs 蒸三皇蛋 consisting of normal chicken egg with small cuts of century egg and salted egg. It was smooth and easily eaten with the rice with a lovely flavour. Simple yet delicious.
I heard the Wah Tan Hor is good, I shall try it then next time.
It has been a while since I met these two old college friends we were in the same Building course back in 1977. Great to meet up with old friends and time really flies.

One Village 食家荘 for a Chinese Cuisine in Kepong Baru

It is on a row of double storey shop houses with an old timer, Sai Kong at one end, there is this humble single lot known as One Village serving simple Chinese cuisine and it is worth trying the food here. It is located at Jalan Helang Sewah at Kepong Baru and previously it was a church at No.13.
Steamed minced pork with salted fish and water chestnut
Fried egg with chopped long bean simple yet delicious.
Stir fried Ikan Haruan fillet with spring onion.
Crunchy stir fried cucumber with garlic was another lovely and simple dish.
Spinach soup with egg, century egg and salted egg.
Black pepper Australian beef with carrot and peas was slightly salty.
Steamed chicken with black fungus and dried lily buds was tasty.

Home Cooked Food @ Kepong Baru

Ah Mui the Hakka Mui or the Hakka lady is the lady boss cum cook of this popular home cooked eatery place @ Kopi Dan Makanan Yew Lee located at Lorong Bangau 2, Kepong Baru.
This place is always packed during lunch hours. We would normally leave the food selection or choice to Ah Mui. We just eat, pay and go. Her pricing is always reasonable, all these dishes you see here for 5 of us only cost RM75.00 excluding drinks which is operated by the shop owner himself. Though I find the food a bit oily but the taste is good. Thank you, Siew Wah for the lunch. Go hunt this place and judge yourselves. Please be patient while waiting for your foods.
