B & Best Restaurant - Seafood Noodles

Jo was asking me where am I going to bring her and her father for breakfast, well B & Best Restaurant came to my thought while I was on DUKE highway on the way to SS2 and I reckoned that that would be a perfect place for my elderly father in-law.
I like these fish balls fresh and bouncy for RM7.00 (10 balls).
This was my favourite, a red snapper soup clear and tasty. Most importantly it's fresh and yummy.
The grouper (Loong Tan) was the premium of all, fish meat with chewy tough skin that was priced at RM21.00
The father and daughter had the same kind of noodles, dry "kon loh" koay teow & mee with tasty lard toppings which all in all was very delicious.
I love the kon loh smooth rice noodle "koay teow" and the amount was just right for my breakfast.
Two happy customers enjoying their food without any complaint at all.
The main man was very busy with no facial expression and words from him, everything seems to be optimally within his reach and a perfect work station indeed.

Banana Leaf Rice at Kopi Tiam Yap Kee

This is a unique business model seen in Klang where an Indian banana leaf rice operating in a Chinese Coffee shop for more than 70 years, it is now managed by the third generation and the banana leaf rice is still as popular. You could see Malay, Chinese and Indians eating together in this coffee shop and that is the true spirit of wonderful Malaysia.

It was a Sunday afternoon we could not have any mutton curry but only chicken curry, deep fried chicken and fish . Maybe the mutton curry has already sold out or probably it had limited choices for the day. Well one can not expect for a wide spread of dishes at in Yap Kee and it has been that way for a long time.

I enjoyed digging the food with my fingers even though I have just had Bak Kut Teh an hour or two ago, the fried fish was awesome. It is a typical Indian rice with papadam and standard veggie on the green banana leaf.
I love staying in Malaysia you can get to eat all kind of food from all kind of ethnicity, we can talk about food the whole day through without getting bored with it. If you feel like having a banana leaf meal well this place is a good choice indeed.

Ming Xiang Bah Kut Teh Berkely Garden 茗香肉骨茶(巴生)

Ming Xiang Bak Kut Teh is located at Lorong Angsa in the vicinity of Berkeley Garden, a quiet corner from the busy centre at Berkeley Garden. It is a new BKT place offering traditional Klang spicy herbal meat soup that you ought to check it out..
Eating Bak Kut Teh in Klang is something common and many places in this town are not so generous with their soup but Ming Xiang Bak Kut Teh has no qualm of offering more soup at your request.
A pot of dried bak kut teh that is being cooked with additional ingredients like lady fingers, dried chilies and dry squids, it has a stronger taste.
One more bowl of "Kah Wan 猪脚弯 " before we leave the place, kah wan is the joint of the pig's leg that is fatty with soft tendon.
Most of us opted for yam rice in lieu of the plain white rice.
Thanks to our local friend Gan for introducing this place, the Bak Kut Teh is good it was not crowded and easy to get tables for our cycling buddies. Cheers Ming Xiang Bak Kut Teh, now that we know another good place for this Klang marvel.

Thai Food at Jalan Bayan, Ipoh Road

Normally on a Wednesday night a group of small wheels would go hunting for food in Klang Valley and this time I have tailored one at Jalan Ipoh after a round of city roaming. The stall that has been in Jalan Bayan for a long time and the crave for a Thai food that came in timely.
There were two dishes that I loved most during that evening, the first one was this Assam curry fish cooked with milk instead of coconut santan. It was heavenly as far as the taste is concerned and everyone of us simply loved it and vouched that we will come back again for this assam fish.
A truly nice and delicious clear Tomyam with all the many fresh ingedients that were in it and they were essential for a fantastic tomyam experience. The prawns were fresh and big, the fish paste was another unique ingredient besides all the spicy stuffs. This was the second dish that I loved most in this food adventure.
This bitter gourd stir fried with pork was different from most Tai Chow in town, the meat was good and lovely.
Fried pandan chicken is another favourite dish at Meng Kee.
The bill and fortunately the omelet did not come, we were already full to the throat.
Go and look for Mr & Mrs James Phua for a lovely meal be it a lunch or dinner, you will love it.

Thai Food Home Recipe 泰囯小食 - Chong Hwa School Gombak

A place for a Thai food with no name, operating from home somewhere in Gombak / Setapak. I have decided to hunt for this place and found it eventually. The name Jalan Chong Hwa is important though it's not located exactly on this road but a little bit of nosing around will do the trick. It was lunch time and most of the patrons were students and workers from the surrounding areas.
I ordered for a Thai spicy fried rice with extra request for added spice and it was explosive man.... what a sweaty and adventurous lunch. It has been a long time since I have tasted such a "hot" meal... gosh I got swollen lips eating it....
A bowl of clear Tomyam soup, I was surprised to see minced meat balls in it and I like it. The la la clams were fresh and delicious. It really went very well with my "hot" Thai fried rice.
A glass of iced "Cincau" drink was refreshing and it was so lovely on a hot day.
Green curry spaghetti seafood with added pork meat was another delicious and satisfying meal. It had to take me a second visit to try this yummy dish.
In the compound of the house that is heavily shaded with thick green. Nothing cosy while you eat your nice Thai flavoured foods amidst the uniformed students of Chong Hwa Chinese School.

Unfortunately operating time is only until 4.00pm and I can forget about giving my family here for dinner here.

A Detour to Kuala Kurau Perak for Cucur Udang (Hair Chee)

It is not easy to find this place and you need to ask the locals for the direction. The community of Kuala Kurau is generally divided into two areas which are on both sides of the river and this stall that sells "cucur udang" prawn fritters is located at the newer part of Kuala Kurau next to a Chinese temple.
Business is obviously good and you are expected to meet a queue before you can get a share of this "Hair Chee". 王月清西雅煎 Ah Qing Prawn Fritters.
Many come and "tapau" or take away in boxes like this. This part of Kuala Kurau has becomes popular among visitors around in Perak and Penang partly for this unique prawn fritters.
The prawn fritters are served with yellow noodle for you to wrap around, dip it into the chill sauce before putting them into your mouth.
I find that these prawn fritters are unique and special. The coffee shop and the "hair chee" stall are about 50metres apart the stall is tucked at a corner which you need a bit of effort to find it if there is nobody seen to be around at the coffee shop serving the fritters.
Of course one must not forget to try the iced Milo coffee, it is another must try thing in this place.
After we have finished our coffee break, me & Jo took out our bicycles for a short ride to the other side of the river while Jimmy took the car there.

From a humble fishing village Kuala Kurau has transformed into a town that is recognised for a popular weekend visit. Towns that are nearby are Bagan Serai, Tanjung Piandang and Parit Buntar. I will venture into the coffee shop next to the old cinema next time.
This bridge has finally connected the two sides of the river where the people and bikes can conveniently cross the river. Before this was built there was a ferry service and that was the only way to cross the river, by boat. This marvellous bridge was built for the people of Kuala Kurau in 2007. As for vehicles to get over to the other side they can use another bridge which is about 1 kilometre away.
We bought some salted eggs from a factory (裕 丰栈蛋行 Joo Hong Chan Salted Egg Factory) before leaving the town and headed back to Bagan Serai for our main agenda. Bye bye Kuala Kurau and I hope my relatives were happy with this detour.

Nasi Melayu Lidiana at Tanjung Bungah, Penang

Nasi Melayu Lidiana is also known as Nasi Melayu Masjid Terapung it is located at Medan Selera Tanjung Bungah and it is opposite Penang floating Mosque (Masjid Terapung Tanjung Bungah).

We were told to visit the place earlier in order to enjoy the food spread and for a shorter queue. The best time to visit would be before 12 noon.
The spread of dishes is wide and most importantly these dishes are delicious ranging from ulam, kerabu to popular fish dishes like deep fried ikan terubuk, ikan cencaru sumbat sambal, sotong and prawns. The sambal and kuah (curry gravy are equally awesome) and all in all a truly Malay food in the island of Penang especially if you are already bored with all nasi kandar visits in the island.
My choice of the day with plentiful of veggies, a piece of pomfret fish and a sizeable prawn for RM13.50. The pricing is reasonable and the taste was fabulous. I must say it is a must try food adventure in Penang.
None of us have any negative comment of this lunch except praises of good food and a ride that was worth the while to venture, by the way I had a second helping ... hehehe.
The food was so delicious that I could not resist myself for a second's so yummy.

After a satisfying meal of a lovely feast of Nasi Melayu we continued to ride back to Georgetown with a happy face. We shall be back.
