Cycle Malaysia Day 37 Pekan Nenas to Pontian

It was time to say goodbye to Platform Coffee cum Homestay in a Chinese village at Pekan Nanas. Thank you again to Hui Peng & Chee Leong. This is at the front entrance of Platform comprising of a bar counter, a raised resting platform and a swing.
A map of Pekan Nenas at the living hall, the hall is well furnished and conducive.
The buffer zone at the front with a small fish pond and an old bicycle. When I asked how much I have to pay for the night and Chee Leong told it has already been taken care by my good friend Baki and thank you so much my dear friend.
Baki took time off to join me from here where he arrived around 8 in the morning and off we went to a mosque opposite the main road (Skudai - Pontian Highway) of Pekan Nenas for breakfast. Warung Anjung Masjid GPS : 1.509602, 103.507096
These are traditional kueh mueh from Johor, I had a carbohydrate loading with a pack of nasi lemak and a piece of sambal fried fish.
Despite his busy schedule Baki took the liberty to accompany me and I was really honoured by his gesture. Terima kasih banyak banyak Adik Baki.
Both of us are passionate with our cycling and enjoyed every moment of it with nothing bothering us while we are on our bikes. It is only the breeze and the road ahead.
The route we took to Tanjung Piai was through shaded plantation road and it was absolutely lovely to cycle on. Welcome to Tanjung Piai. My first time here but it's never too late.
Walking through the pathway through the mangrove swamp we reached the southern tip of Mainland Asia. This tour has stretched from various corners of Peninsula and this is one of the most crucial points to achieved and I was so happy about it.
A view of the mangrove swamp at low tide and the pathway for visitors to use. Certain part of the pathway has been damaged by the sea wave but it's still accessible.
It's now towards northbound and Kukup will be our next stop.
Baki is familiar with this southern route he lead me to this seafood restaurant at the end of the road next to the Kukup Ferry Terminal. The name of the restaurant is New Kukup Seafood Restaurant 龜咯食堂海鮮樓 located at GPS : 1.324915, 103.441147
Fresh prawns in a thick coconut milk curry.
Delicious fried beehoon.
Poached squids in kelabu version.
Lunch was all nice and yummy. We had a good rest at New Kukup Seafood Restaurant before we proceeded.
Selamat datang ke Pontian, we have arrived at our destination on a hot day.
Let's look for a place to stay and a glass of cold drink would be idea.
We decided to stay at this nice homestay, The Corner House. It's relatively new and comfortable.
Baki took me to a food court where we tried Mei Gui (玫瑰海鲜园) ikan bakar and some satay.

CM Day 37 taking a toll of 78km into the southern most tip of mainland Asia Tanjung Piai, detour to Kukup and finally Pontian.

Restoran Long Kee Teow Chew Seafood @ Seri Gombak

We were on our usual Wednesday evening exploring cycle-able routes and hunting for good food in the city of Kuala Lumpur. This time around we targeted Seri Gombak and its surrounding starting from our regular base at Titiwangsa.

We trailed along residential and kampong roads passing by places like Titiwangsa, Air Panas, Taman Genting, Danau Kota, Kg. Sg. Mulia and Taman Selaseh before arriving at Restoran Long Kee Teow Chew Seafood at Seri Gombak. These were dishes recommended by Richard & Jerry.

I like this most, steamed sting ray fish that was fresh and yummy.
Grouper fish cutlets fried with "chai poh" (preserved vegetable) was also delicious and a favourite among everyone of us.
Prawn fritters was interesting it was kind of special that came with a sweet chili sauce.
Oily stir fried brinjal with dried small shrimps was good and delicious too.
Mantis prawns deep fried with salted egg not a favorite dish for me.
The damage for 6 of us.
After a good meal at Long Kee we headed to Metropolitan Batu Park and back to Lake Titiwangsa on a different route for the evening. I was glad my fellow buddies enjoyed the ride and the makan. Let's hunt for more amazing foods with our bicycles.

Kedai Makanan Laut Kebun Kelapa 椰园海鲜 at Pandamaran

The last time I came to this restaurant would probably be at least 20 years ago where coconut trees were still around at this neighbourhood. Now it has transformed into an organised development where the old timber buildings are gone.
Deep fried sotong for a start which was lovely that was nicely cut, fresh and chewy. It surely went well with our whiskey.
Steamed Lala clams (Seong Thong Lala) with ginger and Chinese wine another yummy dish to indulge and enjoy for the evening.
This was the dish Siean Sin wanted to have and here it was the steamed Teochew promfret with bihun, guess this must be the signature dish. Everyone enjoyed it very much.
Steamed fresh water prawns - fresh and juicily tasty.
Steamed red snapper with bean preservative topping
Stir fried Kangkong Belacan simple crunchy and delicious.
Sweet & Sour Crab (甜酸螃蟹) nothing great but palatable.
Fried Bihun with lala clams to fill up the empty corners in our stomach.
The young ones at this table I can see them grow and slowly one by one they get married. All the best in their new chapters.

Welcome Seafood Restaurant 大茄来海鲜餐厅, Kota Kinabalu Sabah

Welcome! Welcome! A restaurant popularly and commonly visited by tourists and it is also popular among the locals who will come as early as six o'clock for dinner. It's located at Kompleks Asia City in Kota Kinabalu.
You will have to pick your choice of seafood for the kitchen to cook and also indicate as how you want them to be cooked. Unless you have decided what to eat if not you will be in a dilemma. There are so many choices to pick.
This restaurant has occupied a substantiate number of shop lots making them the anchor tenant of this commercial complex. Many types of shellfish at the aquariums (just like lobsters and mantis prawns) just pick and choose what you desire.

The pricing is reasonable and the food is fresh, delicious and it is a kind of one of those must visit things in Kota Kinabalu.
The happy cyclists after a good rest at Borneo Backpackers Hostel we rode to this restaurant.
I requested for sea cucumber at least I think it is of lesser sin besides the fish as I fear of any possible gout attack.
Fried seafood Tofu with mayonnaise topping.
Fried sotong fresh and succulent.
Fried seafood bihun.
Our clams were prepared in the soupy version it was nice and yummy.
Deep fried mantis fried.
The crabs for the night were fried with Kam Heong style and we were happily digging and enjoying this lovely dish.
The red snapper which was simply steamed with soy sauce yet it's so tasty and I like the freshness of this fish.
After 4 days of cycling and sea adventures we were looking forward for this dinner at the capital of Sabah. Have a good time here..
