Rock Earthwork @ Bayan Lepas, Penang

Venturing into property development in Penang Island has to be very careful, especially the ROCK encounter factor. There are many failed projects in the Penang mainly because of the ignorance and exclusion of cost provision of rock excavation. I had the opportunity to visit one at Bayan Lepas.

Rock.. rock.. and rock......

Drillings into boulders as preparation for rock blasting.
Drilled and with explosive ready for the blasting.
Fortunately, this development is going ahead despite the tremendous problems found on site.
Very machine intensive kind of operation.
