Tak Fok Hong Kong is Famous for CRAB @ Desa Aman Puri, Kepong

Eating crabs is an affair where you either like it or you don’t, some like to eat but do not like to work on the shell, cracking & breaking the shell can be tedious and messy. Be prepared for a messy and knocking affair so that  you can enjoy the meal.

There are 3 scenarios of dining atmosphere at this place, you can have it at the road side, or at the nicely renovated with pleasant fittings & air-cond atmosphere or at the upstairs where the décor is totally bare like a prison cell. Obviously the nice dining area is the first to be packed with people and if you not early (meaning before 7pm) all 3 places would be packed especially on weekends. And like it or not you have to wait for a table if you are late. The best offer for any crab dishes in town.

Signature egg To Fu with marinated mince meat topping is delicious.

Crabs baked with butter and cheese is a popular version in the place. The Man Tau (bun) is a must for you to taste the creamy sauce.

Salted egg crabs are another popular choice with great flavour & aroma of salted egg.

Fried Bun is crispy at the skin but soft in the inside it is you to clean up the cheese & butter gravy. And Seafood Yee Mee (noodle) served with cheesy sauce – interesting if you love cheese.

Braised big pork rib – tender and juicy.

Spicy fried chicken fillet and Deep fried Calamari.

Stir fried Siu Pak Choy with garlic. Crunchy & nice.

As for me I would prefer a simple steamed crab or baked crab with no cheese, butter, salted egg or whatsoever ingredient on it. It might sounds boring but I tell you ….. it is the best!!! Anyway thanks to Wei Xiang for this treat, he has just started a working career. What a relief for his parent.

What to bring for a Pot Luck Dinner?

I was assigned to buy food for a Pot Luck dinner at my in-laws’ house in Petaling Jaya. And I decided to bring the famous flavour of fish head curry from Sri Rampai, Setapak to PJ. And I am sure that this pot will excite the taste buds of  PJ.

The ever popular fish head curry with sotong & prawns added in the gorgeous curry pot.

Just give a call to this number & and bring it to the party. No hassle no waiting neat & for a mere RM22 per bird.

I requested the bird to be cut for the ease of eating. And the owner showed me how she bakes the chickens.

Fried beehoon with la la clam is another popular dish among the diners.

These were the variety of dishes from all corners of food outlets in Klang Valley.

There were too much meat on the table so little green but the youngsters love it.

This Bak Kut Teh was home cooked by the host and it was as delicious as those sold commercially.
a happy pot luck dinner.

Early Morning Breakfast at Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur

My favourite breakfast hide out in Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur sometime even for lunch. It is located at the bend of Jalan Maran, Off  Jalan Kuantan.

I reckon this place has been here for at least more than 20 years and not many people know of this hiding place.

Curry Mee. I opted for the dry type of noodle used for WTM for my curry noodle.

Wan Tan Mee - a dry version called "Kon Loh"

Wanton soup & chili pickle are a must for a meal of Wan Tan Mee.

Half boiled eggs. It’s traditional but still a trendy food.

Toast bread with kaya & margarine.

A New Hainanese Chicken Rice @ Section 19 Petaling Jaya

A friend has just started another eatery shop at Section 19 of Petaling Jaya and today (08 12 10) is the first day of the opening. My friend is a Hainanese and is always proud of his root and prowess in his cooking especially Hainanese cuisine.

We were there when most of the food is about to finish but fortunately there were still some for us to savour.

The main dish was of course this poached free range chicken. It was sweet and tender. Too bad the Hainanese rice was all finished not even a single grain left we have to take the normal plain rice.

Braised duck, chicken & pork (kah wan) topped with chopped preserved veggie (chye poh). I like this most.

This is the wok at the severy counter with all the braised meat in it for you to select.

There will be new dishes in the menu soon as it is only the start of a new eating joint and hopefully these dishes will be interesting.
