Stadium Negara Restaurant @ Jalan Yap Kwan Seng

This place is popular for their steamboat delicacy, they have the charcoal burnt steamboat or you can opt for the gas burner type. But this time around , we are not taking steamboat as we were sort of planning to adjourn to another place after our quick meal.. Sweet and sour local crabs and it was delicious.. Must go with this steamed plain dumpling called "Man Tou". Dip into the sweet & sour gravy, and you eat it... In case of having problem cracking the hard shell. you can use this small mallet.. This dish is a MUST, BBQ squids, simply delicious and forget about your cholestrol level for a night.. This BBQ chicken wings are as lovely, yum yum erh... Bali Tong, another delicious & sucking experience where you got to suck alot for the tasty food. Some noodles & vegetable for the night.

Lin Yuan Steamboat Kitchen @ Queen's Park

This shop is located at Queen's Park, Peel Road, Cheras and it was a cool Sunday night and perfectly for a steamboat treat.
The Cantonese fried noodle here in Lin Yuan came out to be No. 1 favourite dish among the all dishes we tried. Bali Tong was as lovely too, so was the fried chicken wings.
We opted for a plain soup for the steamboat in lieu of Tomyam or porridge, I think the soup was blended with strong MSG in it, had to drink a lot of 'Cha Wong' Chinese tea. Standard pack for 3 heads @ RM13.90 per head. Note there are 3 prawns, 3 crab sticks, 3 dumplings, all in 3's.... Additional order of fish fillets.
Additional order of fish wantons..
Enjoying fish crackers before the arrival of the foods.

Condolences to Family of Sim Ah Kow

My deepest condolences to the family of Sim Ah Kow.
I got this sad news from my Say Khor (late dad’s youngest sister) of the passing of my cousin brother (the eldest son of my late Tua Pek, the eldest brother of my dad).

My previous posting of this cousin brother of mine can be read here .

I can vividly remember of Ah Kow when I was around 10 years old in Padang Serai where he would always fight with another cousin brother, Ngu Kia. Both of them are always in conflict. We used to stay together in my late dad’s hardware shop, both of them were helping dad in his business. Behind dad’s shop there were lots of coconuts trees, Ah Kow used to catapult for bats up the trees, skin them, marinate with curry powder and deep fried for crispy bats delicacy. That was the time I was brave enough to taste bats. Would not do it again…

May you rest in peace, Ah Kow.

Month of Alcohol Free

I hereby wish to declare this month, September 2008 as Alcohol-Free month for me where I will not consume any alcohol related drinks such as Famous Grouse, Glenfiddich, Macallan, Tiger Beer, Guinness Stout or any similar drinks whatsoever.

I am doing this as a challenge to myself, testing my will power and hopefully it will somehow do a little good to my body system in whatever way possible.

I know I will be facing a lot of attacks especially and whenever I meet up with my buddies or rather my “chew kooi” friends, they will say all kinds of thing but I shall face them and go through this rough ride with them….

I have been able to survive without alcohol since 31 August 2008 and I intend to continue to do so until 30 September 2008. Please help me pull through this period.

The Sound of Music - Then & Now

You must have watched and enjoyed very much this show before. It is rather interesting to know how these 7 children look now. Please see....
And what is really tragic and so sad is, Julie Andrews, as most of you must know by now, lost that magnificent voice of her's some years back due to a throat operation that she had been assured would not affect her singing ability ... but it did! really sad. I do believe she sued the medical people involved but of course, the damage is done... no amount of compensation can make up for such an incredible loss.
~ The 7 Children In "The Sound of Music" - After 40 Years ~
"The Sound of Music" is a 1965 film."
It won the Academy Award for Best Picture of 1965 and is one of the most popular musicals ever produced. Still remember the 7 children of the Trapp family?
They were having a reunion after 40 years and all were looking healthy and amazingly well...
