Rawang - Kuang - Kundang - Rawang Loop

A last minute decision to join this ride by SC Chin in Rawang we met up at Tesco Rawang the one and only one in Rawang. HaPpY hApPy Snake Year.

It was on the 4th Day of Chinese New Year and a wet morning in Rawang.

Off we went from Tesco....

Immediately after the town of Rawang we entered a road lined with big trees before we reach a cement plant.

The famous plant of Rawang which was the first cement plant in Malaysia established in 1953....way before I was born.

That was the furthest we could go as far as the plant security is concerned and we were reminded that no photography is allowed in this area.

The turning from a "Y" junction into the plant before we proceeded to Guthire Plantation.

We left the plant and had to exert greater pressure to leg muscles in order to ascend to higher land.

Looks like Mount Fuji ... anyway we had a good view of Rawang from this spot.

Then we reached an oil palm plantation with interesting contour which is kind of a winding dragon back.

After a monotonous view oil palm plantation we saw sign of civilisation at last.

A small town called Pekan Kuang.

My fate for a puncture free did not last too long and it had to be at Kuang town.

The Blue Lake that had a lot of stories tell such as drowning cases, water sports but one thing for certain it does not look blue to me.

I wish I could play a game of golf here as I have never set my foot at this golf course before.

 

Our tour guide SC Chin was taking us to a popular shop for lunch...

And he found the place he told us that the last time he patronised this shop was donkey years ago and it's still doing very well. And here we were for the famous Kundang noodle.

I love this Kon Loh Mee chewy and tasty - I reckon this is the best noodle in Kundang

The business in this shop is brisk and classic.

The people of Kundang hanging out in this coffee shop for a good meal of noodle.

When you are too "green" people might think that you are crazy. This man knows how to recycle old newspaper.

3rd Day of Chinese New Year Day for an Urban Ride

I love last minute arrangement and I got three friends to join me for a ride between Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya.

We went through KTM old station ...what a heritage building.

We cleared the motor lane of Federal Highway and exited at Asiajaya interchange where we cut through Section 14, 17 and 16.

Our plan to enter Universiti Malaya via a gate at Section 16 did not materialise as it was closed. We were lucky to gain entry at the main gate @ Jalan Universiti.

We then mounted the"Lovers' Hill" of the campus and that was our 1st climb of the day.

Jer Ping's had a technical problem with his bike which was temporary rectified and was able to complete the ride.

Taman Pendidikan Hutan Bukit Gasing is where the popular campaign to save the hill from being raped for development.

We did it...Gasing Hill. I led the group up a wrong road which took to Gasing Heights condominium and had to re do the intended one.....hehehe sorry leh.

Lunch time at Medan Selara Jalan Othman, Old Town Petaling Jaya

"Saapidu" means eat in Tamil ..... I love Malaysia we have a wide range &  variety of food in this country.

What a lucky day I bumped into a friend from RSC (Eddie) and I recognised the owner of this stall whom used to serve at RSC Kiara. She told me they have been here for the last 30 over years. So next time if you are craving for a banana leaf rice please visit Usha.

Time to refuel - a good break and refuelling at this gas station @ PJ State.

Brickfields - Little Bombay

Jer Ping parted from here and had to cycle another 10km to reach  home...that was a long ride for him on this 4th day of CNY. A day for him to remember.

Bye bye JP and we were near our completion base ...cold drinks were waiting for us. By the way we rode 55km for the day and JP did more with additional 20km from his home. Bravo!!!

Cheer!!! for a wonderful ride and we will do again....

First Day of Chinese New Year - Ride to Genting Peras

This year we celebrated Chinese New Year in Kuala Lumpur, family members came as far as from Penang, Kedah and Singapore and I had to be the host. Reunion Dinner is always about the same every year and we had steamboat in my house.

The most interesting part was that I created an event at facebook to invite a last minute ride at Hulu Langat as both my brothers are keen riders. We were thankful that the last minute invitation was able to get 4 friends to join us. 

These are my younger brothers (both are keen mountain bikers) on my folding bikes. 

So on the first day of Chinese New Year we loaded 3 folding  bicycles and headed to Pekan Batu 18 Ulu Langat. As we unload our bicycles, a local said to us "Tak ada raya kah?" "Aren't you celebrating CNY, why are you cycling during CNY?"

The road to Terkala Waterfall was closed and it has been closed for the last 2 to 3 months since a landslide occurred. We decided to ride in to have a look at the collapse.

This was the first time my brothers rode in Klang Valley and this was how we celebrated CNY in 2013 with other cycling buddies. Thanks to David Ong for taking this picture.

Riding up this route was always lovely and the weather was excellent cooling & breezy. 

We rode to a limit that we can not ride any further, anything further means trouble.  

The man (at the extreme right) was trying to salvage his car from the bottom. Apparently his son drove into it a couple of hours ago when the place was in total darkness.

Unfortunately Fortunately the son was alright, he was able to climb up and walk back home to inform his family. We could see 3 cars down there and that sort of accident is uncalled for, the road has already been closed and yet there are people who just couldn't bother about the danger.

Let leave the place and head for Genting Perez.

I noticed that though it was barricaded but it is still passable by vehicles. I hope the Authority can tighten this blockage to avoid any further tragedy to happen.
