UTAR Charity Ride 100313 @ Kampar

A weekend was allocated for a ride at Kampar where a big group of cyclists participated in the name of charity for Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman. We registered with a RM30 fee and were provided with a helmet (or a headlight) and a tee shirt each. That was why the respond was overwhelming.

Some of us checked into this budget hotel Siswa Hotel.

A student by the name of V.K. Park volunteered to show us around Kampar the evening before the charity ride. Of course he showed us the beautiful campus of UTAR.

I was amazed by the initiative to promote cycling in Kampar especially in the new development surrounding UTAR though not perfectly equipped but it was a good start. 

V.K. Park took us to a food court in the town for a supper where we enjoyed some local food. Thank you V.K.!!!

It was a great morning in Kampar we rode to a McDonald's outlet for breakfast before taking our pole positions.

The route was interesting passing by Kampar town and some other smaller towns and villages.

 The weather was fantastic in the morning where some stretches with good shades from trees along the way.

 As we approaches the end of the ride the sun was slowly getting hot.....

At last I can see Kampar town what a relief.

Three of us took a detour just before the finishing line for a wonderful local coffee and half boiled eggs.

That's it folk and bye bye to UTAR.

It was getting hotter and many have to go back home empty handed but not to worry we can try our luck again next year.

It was on the second day of Chinese New Year 2013, after a day trip to Genting Highlands I took my family members to Bukit Tinggi village for a late lunch. And I remembered a friend who told me about this new place.

We were surprised that there were so many shops opened for business during this Chinese New Year holidays and were glad that the one we wanted to visit was opened too.

 It is located opposite BP petrol station right immediately after going through the tunnel underneath Karak Highway on your left.

This dish is very common in Bukit Tinggi, fried crispy thin slices of pork belly coated with sweet sauce. Good leh.

Marmite chicken for the boys & girls, they just love it.

A slimy and leafy green veggie called "Tian Chak". I always enjoy its succulency of this vegetable.

Field frog fried with slices of famous Bentong ginger was another gorgeous dish.

This fish is called "Kelah" was the best among all the dishes, it was sweet and fresh. Of course the most costly on the table.

Another plate of vegetable, the 4 Heavenly Kings comprising of petai, french beans, angle beans and brinjals. Sinful but delicious.

The sambal was fantastic too just do not forget about it when you are there.

Ben's General Food Store @ Publika

I like the set up with an atmosphere that makes you feel that you are not in Malaysia.

 We were gamed for western foods with a feel of being in a market place. This place is Ben's Food Store @ Publika, Solaris Dutamas, KL.

We enjoyed the food, the environment and would love to come back for more.

Super Crab Aroma Seafood Restaurant @ Taman Bukit Mayang

Chinese New Year was all about eating and eating it's kind of a non stop affair, this round with my neighbour the Ungs' they insisted to treat us and so they took us to Taman Bukit Mayang (somewhere in the area of Aman Suria). Super Crab Aroma Seafood Retaurant.

Marmite chicken the children loves it so were the adults.....

This crab porridge was the highlight of the dinner it was so awesome, I love the crab and the soupy porridge it's so tasty leh....

Cold white tofu coated with dark soy sauce and small dried shrimps was awesome.

Special breed tilapia steamed with finely blended ginger - hochiak!!!

Deep fried Pork Knuckle with super crispy skin yet juicy meat in the inside.....olala.

Baked crab tasty .... a bit salty after taking too much of this crab.

Thanks to Ungs' for this wonderful dinner .... what are neighbours for..... good friends and good foods.... hApPy hApPy

Chap Goh Meh Ride in the City of KL

A total of 18 friends turned up at Dataran Merdeka on the morning of "Chap Goh" 15th Day of Chinese New Year which was the last day of celebration.

Everyone was expecting to eat first on the Stage 1 of this ride and I took them to Chinatown which was very near to Dataran Merdeka.

 Chinatown is always colourful and it was already crowded in the morning of the 15th day of CNY. We were there for our breakfast and everyone were satisfied with their meals and were ready to roll.

Stage 2 - Maha Vihara Temple @ Brickfields was the first temple we visited out of the three in our itinerary.

Stage 3 - Thean Hou Temple, a short & steep climb from Brickfields.

We took a short cut through this cemetary @ Sg. Besi to an Air Force Museum, everyone were very quiet as we carefully rode through the cemetary....shhh....

Wow... we were welcomed by the staff of TUDM and was well taken care by them. Terima kasih!!!

Many of us were not aware of this place and were excited when we were allowed to enter into the military compound.

 Of course I had a good time and fun in the museum.

A chance to try a flight simulator, though it was a short stint but at least we know a bit of how to fly a jet plane as compared to our two wheels machine. And that was Stage 4 @ Muzium TUDM.

From TUDM we crossed back to Jalan Bellamy using the cemetery road and headed to a new park called Taman Dusun (Stage 5)

After a brief ride through the park, we came to this shady road next to the old palace...so nice to ride along this route.

Stage 7 - So here we were at the old Istana, the entire group went into the palace where Jotaro & myself were keeping an eye on our bicycles at the entrance.

Stage 8 - Petaling Jaya via the Federal Highway motor lane, Jotaro and Siew Kheong coming from the rear were the sweepers of the day. Thank You!!!

A VIP came over our table and chit chatted with us, he was my super senior from my secondary school (Sultan Badlishah School) in Kulim.

After a good meal of banana leaf rice, it was time to ride back to Kuala Lumpur

The last stage was slightly hitched by a drizzle but it did not dampen our spirit we proceeded and completed safely back to Dataran Merdeka. Thanks to every single riders who were cooperative and most importantly a safe ride was achieved besides the fun we had. See you again cheers!!!
