Sabak Barbeque & Steamboat @ Melati Utama

Only RM25+ per head and you get to try Kelantanese BBQ & Steamboat.
A combination of steamboat and BBQ.

The favourite prawn BBQ.
The iodine provider...BBQ cocklesThe variety to choose .
After the meal, you will also smell like BBQ and I bet you will go straight for shower when you reach your home.
I guess such an eatery place should not be enclosed or air conditioned, if required be to be air conditioned, it should then be properly ventilated if not you will in a stinko state.
Business here is good despite lousy economic situation.
And the Damage.....

Li Man Jia Seafood Restaurant

After a round of happy hour with my old colleagues Yuen Leong, Eng Kiong and Roger Foo whom now I am involved with them on a Chinese Independent School project in town (Loke Yew Road), we adjourned to a eating place called Li Man Jia Seafood Restaurant. It is located along Jalan Tun Razak nearby Titiwangsa LRT Station.
Good foods and reasonable pricing. Stir fried baby cabbage.
Poached kampong chicken.
Fish fillet fried with ginger.
Assam prawns.
Fried BeeHoon noodle with lovely Kow Yoke (stewed pork belly)

Breakfast at Sri hartamas Food Stall

I visited one of my regular Malay food stall at Sri Hartamas for breakfast. It is located at Jalan Sri Hartamas 1, just next to the Sprint Highway Traffic Light and the place is elevated. This stall is the second last stall nearest to the said traffic light.
I like it at this time because the food is freshly cooked, I took a plate of steamy warm rice with curry kembong fish, an egg and stir fried taugeh. And a warm lime juice drinks. All for RM5.00 only…….

Kg. Desa Aman - Steamed Tilapia

Restoran Ah Soon has been upgraded since the last time I tasted their foods way back 5 years ago. They have shifted 8 doors away with bigger space and more conducive atmosphere as compared to previously. In fact they were operating in the old place without any name.
Their specialty is the steamed tilapia fish in a baking tray. Now the tray is made of stainless steel where previously was of aluminum type.
"Yeaw Cha Kuai" goes very well with the gravy. This time around the gravy is found to be too sweet……. remember it was not like that before.
Another good and tasty curry wild boar meat.
A simple stir fried vegetable.
All for RM50nett nett including a pot of Chinese tea.

Location : along Jalan DA/1, Kg. Desa Aman (literally translated into the local dialect means “Taiping Garden”) next to a Chinese Temple.
Opens only from Monday to Saturday for Lunch ONLY.

Raining Days

This cartoon caught me last night.
The size of the umbrella varies according to different families, some with BIGGER umbrella, some with tiny umbrella, some with torn umbrella, some with NO umbrella.....
There are also those with BIGGER family size not 5 people as seen in the cartoon but maybe a dozen or more. Therefore, life is tough but has to keep on going anyway. Stay happy even you get wet during raining days, they will dry up anyway. Just live life as it goes.

Egg yolks are good for you

Got this interesting article about egg yolks to share......

The truth about egg yolks

Many people throw away the egg yolk because they think that's where all the nasty fat and cholesterol is". This is a perfect example of how confused most people are about nutrition.

In a world full of misinformation, somehow most people now mistakenly think that the egg yolk is the worst part of the egg, when in fact, the YOLK IS THE HEALTHIEST PART OF THE EGG!

By throwing out the yolk and only eating egg whites, you're essentially throwing out the most nutrient dense, antioxidant-rich, vitamin and mineral loaded portion of the egg. The yolks contain so many B-vitamins, trace minerals, vitamin A, folate, choline, lutein, and other powerful nutrients... it's not even worth trying to list them all.

In fact, the egg whites are almost devoid of nutrition compared to the yolk. Even the protein in egg whites isn't as powerful without the yolks to balance out the amino acid profile and make the protein more bio-available. Not to even mention that the egg yolks from free range chickens are loaded with omega-3 fatty acids. Yolks contain more than 90% of the calcium, iron, phosphorus, zinc, thiamin, B6, folate, and B12, and panthothenic acid of the egg. In addition, the yolks contain all of the fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K in the egg, as well as all of the essential fatty acids.

And now the common objection I get all the time when I say that the yolks are the most nutritious part of the egg..."But I heard that whole eggs will skyrocket my cholesterol through the roof ." No, this is FALSE!

First of all, when you eat a food that contains a high amount of dietary cholesterol such as eggs, your body down-regulates it's internal production of cholesterol to balance things out. On the other hand, if you don't eat enough cholesterol, your body simply produces more since cholesterol has tons of important functions in the body.

And here's where it gets even more interesting...There are indications that eating whole eggs actually raises your good HDL cholesterol to a higher degree than LDL cholesterol, thereby improving your overall cholesterol ratio and blood
chemistry.

And 3rd... high cholesterol is NOT a disease! Heart disease is a disease...but high cholesterol is NOT.

You can read the following article about why trying to attack cholesterol is a mistake, and what the REAL deadly risk factors actually are...

<http://www.truthaboutabs.com/cholesterol-myths.html>

So I hope we've established that whole eggs are not some evil food that will wreck your body... instead whole eggs are FAR superior to egg whites.

Also, your normal supermarket eggs coming from mass factory farming just don't compare nutritionally with organic free range eggs from healthy chickens that are allowed to roam freely and eat a more natural diet.

I recently compared eggs I bought at the grocery store with a batch of eggs I got at a farm stand where the chickens were free roaming and healthy. Most people don't realize that there's a major difference because they've never bought real eggs from healthy chickens... The eggs from the grocery store had pale yellow yolks. On the other hand, the healthier free range eggs had deep orange colored yolks indicating much higher nutrition levels and carotenoids.

So next time a health or fitness professional tells you that egg whites are superior, you can quietly ignore their advice knowing that you understand the REAL deal about egg yolks.

One more thing about eggs... I read a study recently that compared groups of people that ate egg breakfasts vs groups of people that ate cereal or bagel based breakfasts. The results of the study showed that the egg eaters lost or maintained a healthier bodyweight, while the cereal/bagel eaters gained weight.

It was hypothesized that the egg eaters actually ate less calories during the remainder of the day because their appetite was more satisfied compared to the cereal/bagel eaters who would have been more prone to wild blood sugar swings and food cravings.

Mee Rebus @ Masjid India

" Rosli mi rebus" is located at Lorong Bunus 4, behind a construction site supposedly "Haniffa textiles Building".

This plate of mi rebus costs RM3.20 and the gravy is found to be thick and tasty. Could be lovely if there were more or other ingredients added to it, like prawns, tofu etc etc.

Kong Chow House @ Dataran Sunway Kota Damansara

This is a simple home cooked food shop, housed in a relatively new place known as Dataran Sunway Kota Damansara and there are lot of other eatery shops for you to choose. This one is "Restoran Kong Chow House" which is located along the same row of the popular Nasi Kandar KAYU.
"Mui Chow Cow Yoke" - stewed pork with preserved mustard cabbage.
stir fried fish fillet - not so good.
tofu with minced pork meat + oyster sauce
Stir fried Leek Flower
a bowl of free soup to start with.
Chrysanthemum herbal drink

The food here is basically good but unfortunately the business is not that good. There are so many food outlets in this area and if one wants to survive one must attain certain volume of business in order to be able to be in the playing field.

Looking forward for a re-visit for their roasted or BBQ dishes like duck, pork and also their Curry Head Fish (claimed to be the chef's favourite), we shall see...........

Sate Kajang Haji Samsuri @ Taman Melati

The business of this place is so good but the satay was bad. Looking at the place, I think the effect of the 40% fuel increase has not really gone into effect. People is still spending money, maybe it's Father's Day.We were served with over-burnt satay. The operator should has good quality control over their food as it is importance to maintain and continue their popularity. Originated from the famous satay town, Kajang and Restoran Sate Kajang Haji Samsuri has been the talk in term of satay eating.
The peanut sauce is the main factor of its popularity and if you like hot & spicy you can add this (sambal belacan) into the sauce for the extra oomp.
Here is the traditional ketupat and cucumber which go very well with the satay but something is missing here?? where is the onion!!!! again the Management is neglecting the basic needs of a satay feast.
The modern satay man is the smoke chamber...
Malaysian dessert ABC (Air Batu Campur) or also popularily known as Ice Kacang...
A plate of supposedly 20 sticks of chicken, 10 sticks of beef, 5 sticks of lamb and 5 for rabbit meat.
The service is poor due to tremendous patronage that night, two of our food order did not manage to reach us, Orane Juice & Mamak Mee Goreng. There were people waiting for tables for their turns to makan, we decided to pay and walk over 7-11 Store for the missing drinks.
Hope Haji Samsuri can do something about the SERVICE....

This oulet is located at Taman Melati and it is along the main road of MRR2. (Middle Ring Road 2).
